Prom with another guy
I'm a freshman and my gf is a sophmore. she told me she really wants to go to prom, but since i'm onl a freshman, and shes only a sophmore, we cant go together. A junior asked her today and she wants to go so bad. I'm kinda weary about letting her go with him. Sure, I want her to be happy, but im still weary. if she loves me enough, then she could wait a year to go. plus, i dont know this guy that well. And if theres prom, theres always an after party. I dont really trust her drinking unless im there, becuz last time she drank a a party, she did some shit that she regretted. I'm thinking about telling her this later on but I want your opinions first
Should I let her go? Or not?

Try to keep some of the insecurity to yourself...it is a big turn off. Get a date with an upperclassman yourself and then switch off.

Re: Prom with another guy
How much do you care about this girl? How long have you been dating? Sex of any type? What did she regret doing at the party where she got drunk?
I believe all of these details are needed for a rational desicion.

Re: Prom with another guy
if you know two seniors who are going together....then problem solved!!!!!
have the female senior buy the ticket for you and the male senior to buy the ticket for your girlfriend. upon arriving to the prom, pretend the senior is your date (same as with your girlfriend) and presemt your ticket together perhaps even holding hands for added effect...once inside....you switch partners and whaalahhh!!

Dump her ass, if she'd go to prom with someone other than you, the relationship is OVER.

Re: Prom with another guy
I was in like this exact position except my girl was my age and some older guy asked her to the prom before I started going out with her.
It sucked for a bit because I knew she would be drinking at the after party and shit. I am a jealous bastard.
But luckily she didnt drink and nothing even really happened. Its just a prom, not that big of a deal if you think you can trust her.

Re: Prom with another guy
It's a big deal to me though. I see prom as a way for two people who are attracted to each other in someway to go, dance, have a good time with each other. But the things that come with prom, such as the close slow dancing, the kissing, and the worst, the afterparty.
We've been going out a month but we love each other. I think that I've made my mind up. I'm going to tell her no, and that if she really cared for me and loved me, then she could wait another year. What's the big deal about going right away? So you can dance with your expensive dress? I don't really see a point in going JUST so you can go.

Re: Prom with another guy
You've only been together for a month, and she's already gotten drunk and done something she regretted? Damn.
It's hard to say you should tell her no if you've only been together a month, regardless of the power of your feelings for each other. What you could do instead is say, "Hey, I want you to be happy, but people drink at proms, and I don't want anything bad to happen again. Will you be ok?"
Of course she'll say yes, but then it's dependant upon you to figure out whether she fucked up again or not. That's the hard part. If you think you can do it, it's an excellent opportunity for her to show you either she can be trusted in a tempting situation or that you need to kick her ass to the curb. If you say you don't want her to go and she complies with your wishes, doubts will remain. That's a shitty place to be.

Re: Prom with another guy
You're selfish.
If she "loves" you enough she won't fuck around behind your back.
If you "love" her enough you'll let her go, have a good time and get over it.

Re: Prom with another guy
I totally agree with Spiffy on this one. Look at it this way....If you had a bird that you let out of its cage to fly where and whenever it wished, and you saw it come back to you and its cage every day......And you had a second bird which you kept in the cage always, and never let out, WHICH BIRD WOULD YOU KNOW REALLY WANTED TO BE WITH YOU? So easy to know, huh? You can't force her to be committed to you, or to "Love" you. Let her fly!!! See if she comes back. If she does, good for you. BUT IF SHE DOESN'T, GOOD FOR YOU TOO!! Love, Venus.

Dude she doesn't care enough about you.
You aren't in love not in highschool and especially not after a month.
Get over her as fast as you can.

Re: Prom with another guy
If you try to stop her it's going to cause a big stink.
But obviously if she cares about something as superficial as a high school prom, she doesn't care too much about you, now does she?

Tell her you don't mind. Then find a junior or senior girl to go to prom with. Don't even tell your GF you are going, just show up.

Uh.. hate to break it to you, but prom is a huge deal to a lot of high school kids, for all the superficial bullshit. Her wanting to go doesn't automatically mean she doesn't give a damn about him. The fact she's a flighty teenager will have a lot more impact on how much she cares and how she acts in relation to that.

I would agree with you IF this was her actual prom. Shes still a sophomore so obviously its not the big end of high school prom. If she was a senior then it would be different and it would be definatly ok for her to want to go even if shed have to go with another guy just so long as they didn't do anything together. But since shes only a sophmore if shes not willing to wait then she doesn't care to much, and the guy shes going with is a junior so its not like he will be missing a hole lot if he doesnt go with her since its not the big prom thing again. Id say just let her decide the fate of the realationship. Just tell her that she can go to the prom with that guy if she wants and go your seperate ways or she could wait for prom and be with you but do it in a mature calm tone. If she hadn't done the thing she regretted and you guys had been together longer then I would have said just let her go to the prom no big deal just so long as she doesn't do anything she will regret but she might make another mistake. But like spiffy said with the bird thingy.

I would tell her politely if she goes with him you and her are over for good. Or better yet if she goes with him march into the dance and beat his ass in front of everyone.

Re: Prom with another guy
Well when she first told me about the idea of going, she was very happy. But then later when she saw me, I was kind of pissed off then because I was thinking it all through, and she saw my reaction. So she felt like shit then and the next day told me that if I didn't want her going then that's fine because she loves me and doesnt want to jeapordize anything.
??? your thoughts?

Re: Prom with another guy
umm.. i think people have been giving a pretty straight-forward answer, but i'd go abouts it like so. if you had a friend you trusted (who is in the same grade-category), then get said friend to go with her. she still gets to go, you won't have to worry, and all is good

Ask her if it's that important to her that she go to a prom for the junior class as a sophomore. Listen to answer, act accordingly.

She's obviously an out of control drunk slut.
Break up with her and go out with someone you can handle...like an eighth grader.

Re: Prom with another guy
Some may consider this game playing but youll see what shes made off early.Act as if it doesnt bother you all.You have to anyway. Then in a couple of days just say well some girl(a Jr) asked me if I wanted to go to the prom too.How she responds to this will set the tone for all up and cuming events in the future or non future of your realationship.
