Advice on starting a relationship and awkward silences needed
Hey, just wanted to ask some advice on how to ask a girl if she wants to be my girlfriend... We've had one date and really hit it off well and have a couple more things planned, and I like her a lot. However, I've never actually had a girlfriend. The closest I've come is a friends with benefits arrangement.
Also, when I'm talking with her on the phone or in person, we have good conversations, but there are a lot of awkward silences... She's made no indication that she doesn't like the silence, and I don't mind the silence, but at the same time I feel like I'm somehow failing by not keeping a conversation going. Any advice (specifically, how to avoid the awkward silences in the first place, not just what to do when shows up).
Any advice would be really appreciated. Sorry if I don't respond right away, going up to Vermont for a couple days to see family.

just go on more dates with her, and after about 3 or 4 invite her to your house with some of your friends over...have one of them ask her if shes your gf

That's one thing I struggle to cope with, for the same reasons as you.
If there's an awkward silence I presume she'll never again be comfortable enough to be with me.

Silences are real annoying,so what i try to do is if one pops up as soon as you can just say something evan make something up if you have to, like just say something that happened the other day wether true or not.

Ha, I still don't even know how she feels about me. She had to break our date tonight because she has to babysit (and I know that she actually does have to babysit; she's my friend's cousin, and their parents were going out together). My friend who set me up with her was supposed to do some 'reconnaisance' but he still hasn't talked to her. heh.

Don't try and fill the silences with retarded coversation, it will make you seem, well...retarded.

I've gad and am somewhat still in a situation like that, and all I can tell you is, don't just say the first thing that pops in to your head. I did that once, got me into a lot of trouble.
