Rant on my sexless life
What the fuck is it with men? Is it just me? Is it that I am that fucking ugly, that I cant get a single guy in what I think of as my range? Is it that the guys I like/ find attractive all already have girlfriends/ fiancees? What? What is it?
Hell. Its probably me. I admit, I am tall, and thin, and funny looking, and I dont compensate for it with outstanding clothing/fashion sense. Honestly, I couldnt find a fashionable outfit in the world, if it was the only set of clothes left, and they were already on me. My life sucks balls.
Its not even as though I have stuck myself with just one type of guy. I admit, married/dating-other-people guys arent high on my list of things to do but that doesnt mean there is no one left, does it?
It isnt like I dont like more than one physical type. It isnt as though I find shorter guys unattractive. I can be just as attracted to a shorter guy as a taller one. It just doesnt happen as often. I mean
I could always lower my standards to they type of guys that are attracted to me, but then I get stuck with ugly guys, and fat guys, and brain dead guys, and, worst of all, guys I just dont like. What is so very wrong with me, that I cant get a single guy who likes me in a category Im happy with? I mean, its not like Im asking so very much.
All I want is a smart guy, not even as smart as me, just some one capable of stringing together a whole thought, on their own. When you add to that the rather pathetic wish that they be not overweight, and be taller than me, so I dont feel like daryl hannah in attack of the fifty foot woman, it some how becomes impossible. I mean. How many men are there out there who meet that description? Or even half of it.
And of course, when you add my ridiculous wish of curly dark brown or black hair, blue eyes optional, it becomes this Herculean task. I mean, how hard can it possibly be? And that's just window dressign! Yeah, fine, so I like guys that look like hockey players. I like guys who look like vampires too, why cant I find any of them?
A guy who wouldnt fuck around on me is beyond a realistic goal. I mean, no guy is actually monogamous. And if he were, I still wouldnt believe it. And a guy who didnt do drugs? Thats just asking too much, I guess. Grrrrr.
Where are the tall, handsome, smart, straight, nice guys who like brainy, kooky, goofy, fashion helpless, tall skinny (borderline scrawny, actually) pale girls with thick glasses? Do they just not exist? Grrrr.
Just shoot me now. Honestly. Damn but Im a whiney bitch. I blame a bad night out. Oh, and I already know I'm shallow.
Good choice for a virgin post, yes?

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Your problem is that you are looking for the perfect man. It is doubtful he exists though, so you'll need to accept some faults of his.
You need to prioritize your needs in a mate, what is more important, being intelligent, having curly black/brown hair, being taller then you, etc. Figure out what you can live without (curly brown/black hair sounds sort of silly to me, but it could be more important to you then penis size or relative intelligence), and what is necessary to your very sanity.
No man will ever be perfect (unless you create him out of spare parts stolen from an old car factory), so you'll have to accept some drawbacks. He'll be doing the same with you, it's how people learn to live together without killing each other outright.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
I realise I'll never get the perfect guy, and perhaps the problem is my overwhelming shyness, but I get the feeling that the few inteligent guys I meet (on the rare days I leave my cave) are all far more interested in everything I'm not.
Maybe my grandmother was right, and guys just don't like smart girls. Or maybe I need to work on being more friendly. Or it is always possible I should just lower my standards from healthy smart men I don't tower over to something more common.
The coloring is always optional... actually, the only requiremnt, other than sexual preferance, I haven't compromised on before is intelligence. Ok, time for more booze.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
oooo join the club!
you sound like a terrific woman.
yes, they ARE all married, fianceed, gay or just out of prison. It's absolutely true. And i'm pretty sure that statistically, the world has far more women in it than men, all searching for a man.
If you really want it, then gone are the times past where all a woman had to do was be dignified and ladylike before the hero gentleman would come calling.
If you are ready to fight all the other she-bitches out there for it, then you have to dress like a man wants you to dress (for a perfect example, think of the girls in tia maria or vodaphone commercials or lara croft tombraider), plus be the Goody Girl so that he can imagine you staying home being good while he goes off and is the Bad Boy.
There is a war of the sexes going on, and the women who will remain single are the ones who are too independent and can't be bothered to rearrange their lives around finding a man.
sorry to be depressing, i need more booze too.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
yeah, you're really limiting yourself as to what's acceptable. something tells me you're under oh...let's say 24 years old - if not well below. it's not a detraction, simply an educated guess and here's why.
you're looking for a tall, intelligent guy with curly dark hair and blue eyes who doesn't cheat on you. hell, i can't blame you for having standards. but in my experience, men(and i use the term rather freely) that fit that description usually have no substance and are about as faithful as a pack of dingos. maybe i'm just fed up with the castrated playboys getting all the women in my age group, because believe me - there are a lot better guys out there who, mind you, don't look half bad but don't fit what you're looking for. maybe i just restated guswut's post. but fuck it eh?

Re: Rant on my sexless life
The greatest societal discrepancy ever: All men are looking for a woman, and all women are looking for a man, and yet men always complain of never being able to find a woman, and women always complain of never being able to find a man. What the fuck?
For what it's worth, I'm a creepy, silent, introverted, long-haired, tall, clean, glasses-wearing, smart, shy, yet socially-capable, strange individual who's good with mechanical things and yet who can also somewhat comprehend the abstract, good with a gun and really likes Italian food. I also had the same problem as you, back in mid school; I know that sounds stupid, as I was young and probably pretty romantically-inept (never had the chance to see), but nonetheless I was looking for someone, and not finding. Oh, and by the way, I'm not ugly either, but certainly not for everyone. I have a very sharp and hard-looking face that often looks nasty, even when that's unintended.
For what it's worth, I'd most likely date you. I only say "most likely" because I don't know you, so don't take offense to that.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Don't look for a guy. The harder you look, the more pathetic it all starts to seem. Plus, you'll never find it by looking.
Work on freindships more than looking for the perfect guy;
Tell ya what; I myself, don't feel comfortable in my body. It feels odd to me, I don't know what to do with my arms when I'm walking for example, don't know how I should sit... and I put a huge amount of thought into such small things until it drives me nuts. I have the opposite problem, height wise; Which isn't that much of a problem because guys don't mind if I'm short. But I mind, which is what's annoying.
Don't ever compromiseon intellegence. I get hit on by blokes that act like complete retards, and are then astounded that I'm not illiterate . In some cases, this leads to more interesting conversations, which have shown that they where just acting retarded so I wouldn't be scared off by an intelligent conversation. Unfortunetly, in most it just ment they backed off because if I wasn't a braindead sex toy, then I wasn't for them.
The minority who do change to the intelligent conversation make it worth it.
However, take into consideration; What is your view of intelligence? Book smarts? Common sense?
My fiance for example, [i] barely finished school, and that in itself was amazing. But he has more common sense and reasoning than I ever will, even though I helped him graduate. Simple things that I cannot do, such as functioning at a Post Office, fixing the boiler, etc.
Keep in mind that intelligence has many forms. Don't just look for book smarts. Don't settle for an obvious jackassed retard neither;
Looks arn't the most important thing in the world, but if you don't feel comfortable around someone, then it won't work. As in, a relationship will never work if you want to throw up whenever you look at him.
Rambling now...
How old are you, and how tall?

You're asking for a lot out of these potential partners, but you havnt said what you have to offer. Realise that functional relationships need to be equal, and that you might need work on a better attitude.
Like Paranoid_Pothead said, there's nothing more unattractive than a desperate woman (or man).
EDIT-I'm guessing it's your attitude because your description sounds nice. I don't intend to come off as some 'holier than thou' jerk.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
This post reminded me of nothing so much as that scene in Trainspotting where Renton is going from girl to girl in the club, trying to dance with them, and they all ignore or reject him. Why? Because he looks desperate!
Look, some of us guys who don't fit every letter of your description are actually pretty good fellows. Give us a go-round.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
I'm reminded of a quote from Ally McBeal: "Who needs men when we have ice cream?"
Mother of Christ but that show was awful.
Anyway, Jayne -and I mean this kindly- give it a rest. Why the hell do you want a boyfriend so badly? Romance is fleeting, friendships last longer and can be more satisfying. Nothing's less attractive than someone who NEEDS a man to be complete. You have your own soul, you know. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark, but you sound pretty young. People who aren't in touch with who they are often feel a desperation to immerse themselves into relationships so they can focus on someone else.
I haven't had a relationship for two years, and I'm happier than ever. I don't need to latch onto someone like a lamprey eel to enjoy life. Maybe, someday, I'll find someone with compatible interests who would like to split the cost of an apartment and enjoys marathon sex as much as I do, but it'll happen when it happens. I don't lose sleep over it. And neither should you

Re: Rant on my sexless life
It doesnt look like you are keeping up with your own thread anymore, but I still want to respond. As a guy who could make a similar post I have a couple of things to say.
Most important, you cannot predefine what you want, thats rediculous, if you find a great guy but he doesnt have dark curly hair you wouldnt go out with him? Even if you would, dont get started looking for something specific looks wise.
Also you would be surprised where you would find intelligent guys. Most guys who are fucking around with girls do not seem like they are all so intelligent. This however is just because they are intelligent enough to know that most girls arent all that interested in how smart you are("oh so thats your idea on the meaning of life, uh wanna go to the mall, whats on tv?") I dunno I just put that in but I know a devent amount about how my friends procure women and they definatly do not work the intelligent game, regardless of how bright they are.
I dont know what you look like, but I have got to say, if you dont dress up that isnt a big deal to most guys but, it gives off the signal that you arent too worried about hooking up with anyone either. look at the peacock! being pretty is important in mating, and cloths are a part of that for human beings a big part.
So to finish up, KEEP WAITING, become allright with it, its not so bad talk to your friends that get a lot of action, its fun for them sure, but its not that big of a deal because they have to be fake about it. You will be ok kid. It would be very unlikely that you live near sioux city iowa, but if you do, I would be honored to take you out on a date, and if that doesnt work out I have a bunch of very interesting friends.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Lose the glasses. Seriously. Thick glasses suck. If you don't want to deal with contacts, shoot for something small and with polycarbonate lenses. They're designed for athletes because the material is nigh unbreakable, but an additional upside is that they're thin and light.
If you have insurance, you'll have to pay extra for the material (for me, it's $27 above what insurance will cover). Hopefully you have insurance that pays for frames as well; if so, they should dish out a set amount, which will decrease the cost of more expensive frames. Save a little and get yourself a set of slick designer glasses. Bring someone whose fashion sense you trust to help you find the pair that suits you best if you don't think you can do it yourself.
For extra smoothness, get them tinted. They can be like sunglasses, but it's not necessary; in fact, if you prefer a color like blue or red, it's easier to pass them off as normal glasses in places where sunglasses wouldn't be kosher. That's optional, but it's a nice touch.
If you've got the honest-to-god nerd glasses I'm envisioning (quite clearly, since I used to have them myself), this will be a gargantuan improvement. Your face is the first thing people look at; this alteration will overshadow anything you lack in choosing clothes.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Agreed with Spiffy;
I knew a girl who looked god-awful without glasses on, because they drew attention to her eyes, away from the sunken look they had. I knew another one who had glasses that went with her facial flow, so you barely noticed when she wore them and when she didn't.
It all depends on your face, so a photograph would really help.
Clothes don't need to be fashionable, because as long as it suits your body, that's what counts. Like the fashionable mini skirt looks god-awful on a 200 lb, 5" tall girl. Just go with what suits you, and what you feel confident in.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Ok, I'm running off the top of my head here, so if I miss anything, don't be insulted. Damn, I didn't expect my drunken patheticness to run to two pages.
Ok, I'm 25, and generally happy with my dateless life, but even the happiest person is going to notice a no date in a year streak. When I say tall, I mean 5'10, or about... 175cm, for those of you using the funny measures.
Thanks for the suggestion on the contacts, Spiffy, tried them, couldn't stand them, moved on to the cute smaller frames I have now. And yes, they are still thick, even with the thinnest, lightest, most highly compressed lens I could get... saving up for sturgery.
Location, location... I'm in South Carolina.
The hair/ eye thing is a sad fantasy decided on when I was.. oh, 12, and decided it looked good together, and was the exact opposite of my then white blonde hair. I'm not actually that picky. There are things that attract me more than others though, and wanting them to change ain't gonna work.
I know, as do most of you, that common interests and whatnot are far more useful then looks when finding someone (anyone) but sometimes you have to get past the looks. Book smarts don't always impress. I know far too many people who have advanced degrees and didn't learn a thing. I think what I mean by intelligence is an ongoing interest in learning, anything and everything. Like a kid who doesn't know people don't like the question why. Just an active mind at this point. The ability to read is optional, if they can think clearly. Not that I always do.
Infrared, thanks for the "most likely". If you're at least 22 (promised my sister I would stop dating guys with fresh ink on their high school diplomas) I'd consider it.
I'm sure, though, that some day I will come across a single, strait, non-parolee with a thing for tall skinny sarcastic types. I just wish there were more of them. Maybe if I left the house more often when it is light out? I'm told I grow on people, like a fungus.
Ok, that's more than enough self indulgence for one week. I'd post a picture but for two small things one- I don't have one at all, I think, and two- I'm too damned lazy to put one up.

Yep. If you can't find better glasses than that, laser surgery will do more for you than just about anyone else I've ever seen. The last picture is pretty nice.
If you're on the road to getting surgery, but it's going to be a few months, you might consider using disposable contacts until then. They're easier to deal with and you won't have to fuck with them for too long.

without the glasses, you look great. Of course once you're actually seeing someone, you can go back to the natural "you", but suffering with lenses for a while seems a good idea.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Muchos Gracias!
You look great without the glasses; Amazing what a difference that made.
5"10 isn't too tall; Just don't wear heals. Then again, I guess it's just percpective. Ella is 5"7 and won't wear heals because she thinks she's too tall.
But, I'm 5"2, so it's not as if I know much about being taller than a guy.
You've just got to be comfortable in your own body, make friends, not relationships and go with what works on your body. Believe me, I have a ton of short comings, and pretty big ones at that, but I'm comfortable with who I am [most of the time anyway] and tend to be overly eccentric so I attract attention to myself. I can't help it. It's just what works for me; Find what works for you.

Yes I agree completely that 5'10" is not tall at all.
You need to do something with your hair, wearing it flat and up is ugly.
You are not ugly, and I see that you have alot of potential. I am not a lonely slob so I am not going to rate you an 8.
I say your potential is 8 but right now you are looking at a 6. You need to get some work in and yes you are probably going to say that you took the pictures and that's not you dressed up. Oh Well.
Anyways that is my opinion take it how you will.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Okay, I am not tall...or at least I don't think so, but I am a bit taller than you.
I have dark curly hair, but not blue eyes.
As far as intelligence goes, I think it is overrated, some think Im dumb, but I do seem to test well. I consistently score in the top 1% on any standardized test. Does that get you hot?
I have never cheated on anyone. I would consider myself as generally nice, and most women who know me would say the same, but if you dont believe me when I say I don't cheat, I would probably take a "go fuck yourself" attitude.
No drugs here.
Your age is just right for me.
Sorry, I don't think Im interested.
I am going to be blunt here. This may not seem fair, but this is how things are...
For girls, the standard of attractiveness they need usually goes up the taller they are. Guys often accept different body types (skinny/plump) or even less attractive faces if the girl is shorter. Tall girls are fine if they are hot, but you lose more by being otherwise the same as a shorter girl. I can't put my finger on why, but that is what I have seen.
Looking at your pic, you are not hopeless, but I would not be too picky if I were you. It sounds like from your standards you are rejecting guys before you get to know them. Unless you are at least a 6.5/7 (you're not), I would go on some dates to see if you can find a diamond in the rough. You might be one yourself. Wouldnt it be nice if some guy took the time to find out?
Dont feel like you have to hook up with a guy just because you go on a date. Just go out if you have nothing better to do. Even if you dont like the guys, if you get in that mode for a bit, you will probably get a more attractive attitude. Kinda hard to explain how that works, so just trust me on that.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Of course you're not interested, EG. That's how you play, right? Get 'em wondering just what's wrong, and then working on trying to impress you.
He is right about one thing: By going out more, you'll become more comfortable around people, and not at the expense of your own personality either. Once you lose the glasses- and the difference is downright jarring- that will also mean more dates.
But, assuming your personality self-description is accurate, being gangly or goofy or not having phenomenal fashion sense won't have a major impact. Guys will react to you as a person in, generally, one of two ways- either you're not what they think a girl is supposed to be, or you're a cool chick. Combine that with a pretty face, and you can get away with whatever other flaws you might see in yourself. That's not to say don't work on self-improvement if you feel you need it, but those things you're knocking yourself for shouldn't put much of a dent in your chances with a guy you'd like.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Thanks everyone, I know I look better without the glasses, but they are just so good to hide behind, ya know?
CarbonB: Make-up/ dressed up/ someone else taking the photo doesn't change much. I'd just be a dressed up me with no bags under my eyes, and a different camera angle. My hair is usually up to protect it. There's something about 3+ feet of tangly hair in the wind that just doesn't work for me, somehow. Buns and braids or one huge dread, guess which I picked?
EG: <sarcasm>Thanks for the positive feedback.</sarcasm> It's possible, dont'cha think, that the reason expectations are higher for tall girls is because most guys don't meet a whole lot of taller women, and the ones they do hear about are all, oh, models? Shorter women are all over the place, in differant sizes and shapes on TV and whatnot, but you don't usually see pictures of less than perfect tall women. Wonder why that is?
Being tall really doesn't bother me much anymore. Sometimes it's kinda cool. I've accepted that I'm not going to be able to give my short friend four inches from my legs anytime soon, and have gone back to wearing heels sometimes. If it bothers people... too bad.
I've also learned not to post while drunk and lame.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Okay, first thing in the morning and I'm horny [Haha]
So, my personal opinion on your looks;
You have strong features; Not jagged-edge strong, but good strong.
As much as I hate telling people this [Considering it makes me a hypocrite since I deteste changing what works for me so it'd work for other people] - Light colored blush [and I mean light, not bright red] to emphasize your cheek bones. Eyeliner and mascara on the top lashes to detract from any bags under your eyes and just in general to attract more attention to your eyes [Which are a gorgeous color by the way]. Slightly tinted lipgloss/balm? It'd make your lips look fuller.
Hah, sorry, being a whore and putting make up on a drag queen has taught me these things.
The first thing people will look at is your face, then generally your legs since you're tall [Well, I do anyway - Too skinny legs are a turn off, curves, yummy] - So emphasizing both those things in a good way is great.
Anyway, I'd rate you as a 6 or 7 because in general, you're not my type [I like redheads, asians and naturally gothy looking chicks ] - But you do have great potential.
But hell, looks are no componsation for a personality. You can only stare at someone for so long before knocking on their head and hearing the echo.
Yadda yadda yadda...

Re: Rant on my sexless life
If you have 3ft of hair then that is one thing really wrong.
I believe the year is 2004 and having hair out the ying yang is not attractive.
You need to atleast cut it alittle higher then the mid of your back. It's really nasty and troublesom on yourself to try to keep up maitenance on hair like that.
I would suggest getting it cut and then styled so you could see what it looks like with some good looknig hair and the difference it could make.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
alrighth, hun, this is my advice:
you know the type of man you want, so go scope out where you think they'd hang out. You're 25, so we're talking about somewhere close to a college where the graduates are finding places to life because the haven't figured out what to do with their newly aquired diploma, or are posibly still working on that. that's a good place to start.
(now for advice that's not quite so....sane)
get a net, find a place where cute men often pass by, set up a trap with interesting books as the bait and when one falls for it, grab him with the net and take him to you dungeon where he'll be yours! all yours!! muahahahaha!!! you might as well grab some traquilizer darts in case he tries to bite.
good luck! ^_^

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Chem....what is your deal?
Are you that unattractive and anti-social that you have to come to totse boards to try and pick up a date?
The lady came for advice not how many losers can hit on her in a single day.
I mean it's just repulsive to me to see all the guys on here just drop their mouths when someone mentions that they are a girl.
If I say I'm a girl will that get people around here to kiss my ass? It's pathetic and even if your playing around, don't play like that.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Long hair looks good on some girls, short looks better on others; Whatever works for her. Fuck the year, what if next year they decide having hair past yer arse is good, but you cut it this year eh?
Try getting it layered, or cut 'step' wise; You know, like steps going down, then going back up, leaving a sort of triangle shape. I like having long hair, makes me feel happy in an odd sort of way, so I just do things like that to it. And multi colored dye, but never dye your hair half green, and the other half red. Fuck that was a stupid dare.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Your spelling is totally fucked because you have yet to graduate the 7th grade.
No one should have nasty nappy hair to their ass. You need to cut it and then style to something that suits someone of your frame.
Don't continue to cut yourself short by keeping your hair too long.

Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but isn't it true that women sometimes try to change their man if theres something they don't like? And if so, whats to say he wont try to change for you, given it's not too drastic.

Re: Rant on my sexless life
Wow, what's everyone got against long hair? Just because it's long doesn't mean it's ratty or in bad condition. I look like a clown (literally) with short hair, and am, in fact, growing it much, much longer. To each his own, I guess.
Also, considering it's exactly the opposite of the advice I get from people who have seen me in person, I think I'm just gonna ignore it. Why on earth would I want the same short boring hair everyone else has, and that you *really* can't do anything with?
