How the Hell would you know?!
Just a general question to you guys.
How would you know or go about finding out if your girlfriend/boyfriend were cheating on you?
For example a few small questions can get strange replies like:
"So who's this John guy?"
"Erm...Nobody...Just friend" with wide eyes and a weird look in her eye.
Seeing as it's a friend why did she say he was nobody?
Things like that.
What else do you notice about behaviour, sexual tension, etc?
Give theories, accounts, excercises...Whatever.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
this was emailed to me today:
You gotta love this guy.....
This is a true story about a recent wedding that took place at Clemson University. It was in the local newspaper and even Jay Leno mentioned it. It was a huge wedding with about 300 guests. After the wedding at the reception, the groom got up on stage with a microphone to talk to the crowd. He said he wanted to thank everyone for coming, many from long distances, to support them at their wedding. He especially wanted to thank the bride's and his family and to thank his new father-in-law for providing such a lavish reception. As a token of his deep appreciation he said he wanted to give everyone a special gift just from him. So taped to the bottom of everyone's chair, including the wedding party, was a manila envelope. He said this was his gift to everyone, and asked them to open their envelope. Inside each manila envelope was an 8 x 10 glossy of his bride having sex with the best man. The groom had gotten suspicious of them weeks earlier and had hired a private detective to tail them. After just standing there, just watching the guests' reactions for a couple of minutes, he turned to the best man and said, "F--- you!". Then he turned to his bride and said, "F--- you!". Then he turned to the dumbfounded crowd and said, "I'm outta here." He had the marriage annulled first thing in the morning. While most people would have cancelled the wedding immediately after finding out about the affair, this guy goes through with the charade, as if nothing were wrong. His revenge... making the bride's parents pay over $32,000 for a 300 guest wedding and reception, and best of all, trashing the bride's and best man's reputations in front of 300 friends and family members. This guy has balls the size of church bells. Do you think we might get a MasterCard "priceless" commercial out of this?
Elegant wedding reception for 300 family members and friends.....$32,000.
Wedding photographs commemorating the
occasion.....$3,000.
Deluxe two week honeymoon accommodations in
Maui.....$8,500.
The look on everyone's face when they see the 8x10 glossy of the bride humping the best man....PRICELESS.
There are some things money can't buy, for everything else there's MASTERCARD.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
If she has mood swings, such as:
Being overly nice to you one day(she feels guilty) The next day she ignores you (she wants to break up)
If this cycle repeats itself several times I'd say you had a cheater on your hands.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
Good topic...
Note: I'm relating from 'his' perspective for sake of ease in wording.
First of all I think you get a 'feeling' more than anything concrete. Subtle differences in the way she acts, the way she relates to you day to day. Things like not being able to get together because 'something' else came up. Being standoffish. Generally giving you the feeling that rearranging her sock drawer is more important than spending time with you. Catching her with another guy's dick in her mouth would be pretty proof-positive.
As far as finding out? I would have to be pretty convinced something is going on. By that I mean I try to take people for their word until they give me reason to believe otherwise. If I felt pretty strongly that my GF was cheating on me, I would try to catch her in a lie or even set her up to catch herself. Honesty is always the best policy but unfortunately cheaters don't feel this way so the direct approach is out.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
I'll tell you how.
Send some nice flowers to her. Expensive ones, but with no card.
If you see her after she gets them, and she DOESN'T mention them, she's messing around.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
^that is a good one. There is a radio station here that does something similar. If someone thinks that they are being cheated on, the DJ will call the other one on the air like she is a telemarketer for a new online florist. She says just for him/her to get to know their company, they will send a dozen roses to the person of their choice with no cost or obligation. It is always funny when they send them to the wrong person.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
If she used to spend a lot of time with you, then backs off real quick, or does something drastic such as my ex did to me (blew me off on my 18th B-day to go to a soccer game with her friends). Also it depends on certain replies, not what they say(sometimes it is what they say though), but how they word it. Such as you call her on the cell, and ask who she is with. If she says no one, well honestly who goes out by themselves now adays...or if you ask who some guy is and she says, "only a friend" not true, if he was a friend then she would have said that, not throw an "only" in there...

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
Sounds like she's cheatin' on you. Walk with her just the two of you, and ask her "I heard you were cheating on me, is this true" if you get the same response as before she is.
I did this because me and my ex never got any "us time". Then I was IMed from an annonymous person saying "just so you know your girl is tryin to get with another man". Oh well though got her back. Two wrongs make a right nut in another girls mouth.

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
Excellent points all of you.
Enjoyed Easy's link...Rather amusing thought!
As for the truth thing...Take it from me it doesn't work.
I was with a girl a while back and knew she was cheating on me...I decided to follow her one day.
I saw her with some other guy...They went shopping, went for a drink and sat in the park for about an hour.
All the time they were kissing, hugging, holding hands, etc.
That night we went out to the pub and I asked her what she did that day...Apparently she was with some friends and they went shopping.
I asked her if she was cheating on me and she said she wasn't.
So out came the Polaroids I had thoughtfully snapped up...Special thanks to my cousin for the loan of the camera!
She had a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle!

Re: How the Hell would you know?!
It may have already been said but one thing I have noticed with girls is that they will find something minor or not so minor to gripe about constantly to lay guilt on you. Not the usual complaining but something that just strikes you weird that they would complain so much. See while your at home feeling bad about doing something she's feeling great about the fact that you've been treating her like gold and she still slides by with another man.
