There seems to be two schools of thought on the whole "furry" thing.

One seems cartoon-based. Cosplay furries seem to have cute Disney-esque animal names. From the outside, it seems like it's just about finding cartoon/fantasy characters attractive.

I recently read an interview in Bizarre with a self-described Satanic Furry. For him, furry-dom is just an extension of his animal totem. Aligning himself with an animal spirit is his way of staying in touch with the fact that we are part of the natural world. Personally, this makes a little more sense.

Are both perspectives correct? Am I completely missing the point? Is furry-dom really as utterly sad and freaky as it's portrayed? Lay on the answers, folks!

Most people have a bit of the furry mindset; but not to the point that it's considered fucked up. We imitate dogs for one style of sex; for eating a girl out, imitating the cat's lapping of milk can be great...we copy animal behaviors to enhance our own sex, most just fail to recognize it. All being a furry means is that animal behavior is a fetish for you; whether cosplay or simply behavior is included or not.

Admittedly, this is at least one of those things I've allowed myself to remain ignorant about. I thought it had to do with folks who like to dress up in animal costumes and have sex, but apparently that's only a small part of it. Whatever floats one's boat!
