I am not a guy but i can put some insight in on this...

Stay away from xylocaine. It isn't meant for use on your urethra. The "pain" is supposed to be a factor. If you cant feel it there is no real reason to sound now is there. You should go for some good old KY jelly. Sounding is one of those instances where lube is a big deal.

Most guys who have tried sounding actually enjoy it. As much of an OUCH it might seem, it's not going to feel like a swab test at all. Just start with the small sound and work up from there. Its not meant to scrape a sample from the inside of your urethra, its not going to feel the same.

I'd say give it a try. You may really enjoy it (I'd check it out with your girl first...she might take a while to even get into helping you)

BTW...do you know anyone into modification near you? I've thought about it but not the want to try it has never been strong enough for to spend lots of money ona kit. Maybe if me and my boyfriend wanted to do it at the same time, the price wouldn't be an issue. My only concern it how easily I would get UTIs.
