Went On An Awesome Date (How He Made It Awesome)
Without even knowing it.
No. 1: I was (am) in a very manic phase and didn't feel like leaving the house. It had been a very long day. I'd had an anxiety attack at the grocery market, caused a scene, the night stalker came back, etc... So, I told him it had been a long day, I wasn't going to dress up, I didn't shave my legs, I looked like crap, etc... But, he insisted he still wanted to hang out because:
"I've been at work all day. I just want to talk to someone cool. I don't mind if you're a little stinky."
I told him I wasn't at all stinky and accepted the date. I think proceeded to change into my hot first date clothes.
No. 2: Then - when he picked me up - instead of bringing me flowers or candy or something he brought me a little painting. It's on a red background and it's like some sad, legless, bunny-man-creature looking all somber at a prostrate bunny doll on the sidewalk. It's super duper.
No. 3: I told him there was this uber seedy arcade/pool hall on Broadway (which is the designated strip club street) where we could play Pac Man and get in a fight. So, he wrestled for parking
No. 4: then bought an umbrella because it was raining,
No. 5: and then when we found out it had been shut down, he asked me what I felt like drinking. I said whiskey, so he ran across the street (almost getting run over, which was oddly adorable) and returned with a pint of whiskey. We drank on the wet way back to the car.
No. 6: he then took me to this super cool Mediterranian place on Haight street where people danced on tables, smoked hookahs, and broke plates on the floor. Because he had been such a doll all night, I even got up and flossed my belly dancing skills, since I recent took lessons. The look on his face was priceless.
No. 7: When he took me home, he kissed me, and then he got this goofy look on his face and said
"You look super cool."
It was such a dweeby thing to say, I laughed. Then I shadow punched him in the shoulder and returned the compliment. He tried to take it back, but I thought it was so cute I just said I'd see him around and got out.
After that I notice he really sped away fast.
No. 8: I got inside, fed the fish, made myself some tea, washed my face, turned on the late night infomercials, got undressed, put on my bed clothes, etc... and just as I was hanging the painting up my phone rang and it was him. He called to tell me he hadn't meant to make me uncomfortable, if he had. He knew it was a dweeby remark and said he was sorry but, well, you know. Anyways, that was unbelieveably adorable.
I'm not a particularily friendly person, especially when I'm in an introvert manic phase. But, he managed to make it a really awesome date, despite the circumstances.
So those are some pointers for any guys who are interested in knowing what can work on a date.
Cheers,
Lost

Naw. You or Boss have more trouble that way.
I'm strange enough, already. I'd meet ol' Ibo
'cepting, I'd rather not have to look into my soul.
You & Boss may have problems(whodon't)
but prolly Ibo'd rather meet you. Even plants
have their standards.

Is it just me or does it almost feel like you're reading a riddle when you read moon's posts?
Anyways glad to hear. It's nice to see the small things really matter. It seems like girls never pay attention to that sort of thing.

Re: Went On An Awesome Date (How He Made It Awesome)
its nice to see that the guy acted like a complete bitch after he threw out some cheesy line. confidence, confidence, confidence right? nothing says "im secure" like a phone call to see if what he said displeased his master.

Glad you had a good time LC.
From your post it sounds like the guy did everything right. I agree with you about the painting, it's different and the painting itself sounds cool.
Doesn't it bother you that the guy called you to see if what he said was okay, though? I agree with mrman on that.

Bump.
Indeed, cmon answer the question. His calling you may seem 'cute' but don't girls hate insecure guys?

Re: Went On An Awesome Date (How He Made It Awesome)
I forgot I posted this.
Well, no. I didn't find it annoying. I thought it was cute, because it showed he really liked me.
He sent me an e-mail, but hasn't called me since, and that was two nights ago. So, it's not like he's really insecure - checking up on me all the time - or stalking me.
Also, when he called me he did ask me if I liked him. He seemed confident in that I liked him. He just wanted to make it clear that he liked me.
And I thought that was really cute.
Cheers,

Re: Went On An Awesome Date (How He Made It Awesome)
But is he sleek enough to run through the forest with you. You give me the impression that you can be a girly girl, but you're not always a fragile flower are you?
Has he seen your band? Is he more than a just
a grouper (that's of course the male form of groupie) for your rock godessness?
Does your band tour? Will the rest of us ever
be given a chance to be your groupers?

"But is he sleek enough to run through the forest with you. You give me the impression that you can be a girly girl, but you're not always a fragile flower are you?"
- Not at all. I like to kick ass and wear spiked high heels while I do it. Literally, I practice my dance moves (at home) and practice kick boxing (at home) in high heels. I like to be girly sexy and macho sexy at the same time. Anybody who loves rock and roll can appreciate that.
"Has he seen your band? Is he more than a just a grouper (that's of course the male form of groupie) for your rock godessness?"
- No, he hasn't so he's very much not a groupie. In fact, he's also in a... uh... well known band. But, I didn't know that, either, when I met him. We sort of surprised each other.
*grins with nostalgia*
"Does your band tour? Will the rest of us ever be given a chance to be your groupers?"
- Yes. We're going on tour in Mexico tomorrow, actually. So, I might be gone for a while.
But, you can e-mail me and I can put you on the mailing list. Also, because I kind of like you, if you tell me where you're at I'll even try to schedule a tour stop in your area sometimes.
*muah*
