Hmm, maybe if you have too many uncomfortable silences, you're better off not being with the girl since you don't have enough in common with her to hit it off. Then again, if it's a case of the girl being shy and not bringing topics up, without effort on your part then the impression of 'not having enough in common' could be created, and then you're screwed (or rather, not).
