Default age differences

I was going to hijack casperc's thread, but decided to make a new topic because he'd get mad at me

Well anyway, it's pretty much the same story, only the girl I want to ask is a year older than me. She seems really nice, and she talks to me and all, but she's a soph and I'm a freshman. She rides my bus in the afternoon; she lives like 5 houses from me. She's real quiet on the bus, but she does talk to me when we're walking and such, so I'd say it is a good sign.

For you girls that are in high school, would you date down if you met a really cool guy that was just a year younger than you? Does it really make that much of a difference? What would your friends think? Would you care? I've no problem asking her, but it's just that she's older and it would be kind of going against the "rules" of high school.

Keep in mind that she's only one school year above me, she's only a few months older than me in reality... Thanks for input.

usually it's more socially acceptable in high school for girls to date older guys, but when i was a sophmore i dated an older girl, and so did one of my friends...and so did another of my friends...so i guess no, it's not a big deal.

Well I'm not a girl, and at my school age doesn't have any bearing on a relationship.

I know a girl who is in my grade [junior, or 11th grade for the dumb fucks] and shes going out with a freshmen. So I guess it shouldn't be a problem. Unless your school is a judgemental one, that cares what other people do/say. No one cares as long as the people or persons are happy.

Go for it.

Woah...

I didn't know high school could be any other way! Whereabouts is this wonderful-sounding school of yours?

Our school is shit. Maybe it's because I live in Georgia. Ah..

Thanks though. Girls, do you have anything?

Here this might help you. My brother junior year started dating his current girlfriend who was a senior. Also, it kind of goes along with girls with older men, my older sister is dating a guy 16 years older then herself.

I personally would date a guy, a year younger then me. If we liked each other alot, who cares.

I cannot see any problem with age in a relationship unless you are talking of a massive gap like a teen with a middle aged person, otherwise its ok.

Im just gone 25 this month and my gf was 21 in october and we have never ahd an issue or even discussed any age difference problems oher than the fact she is a bit jelous that Ive finished college!!!

Eh, its high school, age does play a minimal role, perhaps freshman and a senior, haha actually I know a senior thats goin out with a freshman, shes a nasty ass hoe though, she'll fuck pretty much any thing with two legs.

In old folks terms, a one-year difference is considered pretty much the same age. I realize in high school it might be different, but if I remember correctly, there always seemed to be the freshman guy that all the sophomore girls liked or the junior that all the seniors liked. You're nice looking, you seem like a nice enough person and quite smart, so you're probably a better choice than most other guys at your school, regardless of age!

Ha, thanks

...Wait a minute... I'm nice looking? How do you know?! *freaks out*

Well anyway, update: I asked her what she's doing on Saturday as we were walking off the bus, and she said she isn't doing anything. I told her I'm going to a party (which I probably won't), so tomorrow I'll tell her that the party was called off.. and ask her if she wants to hang out!

That is, if I go to school... I've got a damn sinus infection. Stupid illnesses, screwing everything up...

Thanks for all the advice though.

Good luck, I'm a freshman too. However, I've been told that I dont look like (or sound like =\) a freshman, but rather a sophomore or junior. I suppose that as long as you don't act like a little kid, nobody's going to care.

age does NOT matter at all, i went out wit a girl that was 4 years older than me last year and that was probably one of the best relationships i had (but now i have my current g/f) so either way man go for it...whats the worst that could happen? she'll say no...at least you'll know

well i'm a senior in high school and at the beginning of the year i dated a freshmen who was only a year and four months younger than me (sounds weird i know, i kinda skipped a grade and am REALLY young for a senior, 16 to be exact, so yeah) and it was a pretty kool relationship, only two months but it was fun and i found that he was a lot simpler than guys my age or older, partly from less experience but then it made it better so there's no past bullshit to bring into it ... and no bad habits either ... heh .. but i say age doesn't matter unless its something very significant like, for teenagers i guess a 13 yr old with like anyone 16 and up ... for adults like pass 20 or 21, the age difference doesn't matter as much i think, cuz they're all basically done really growing up and developing for the most part ... but yeah, don't worry what other people think, just follow your heart, you've got nothing to lose.

Well, if he goes to a school in Kenosha, chances are that he lives there, dontcha think?

Damn there are lot of people from WI here. Whatever.

Well just so you guys would know I didn't ask her today, because... I don't know. I think I'm going to ask her for her number/AIM first. Bleh Ah well, I met some other cool people today so that's always good. Doesn't have anything to do with anything but I told you all anyway because I am for once in a good mood

Age difference is something that is variable in social acceptablility depending on your age...

Think about this...Guy is 35 woman is 30 and they are married...No problem there.

Untill you factor in another thing...

He was 18 when she was 13...Very strange eh?

It's just thought provoking ain't it?

Here's one that really can get you thinkin...

My dad is 54 and my mom is 41...

My dad was 32 when he married my mom and my mom was 19...Think about this...My dad was 13 when my mom was BORN.

And when my dad was 18 she was 5!

Scary ain't it?

Think about that next time you think it's wrong for a 18 year old to date a 15 year old or something.

It's not really that funny but it's something to think about...Personaly i think age difference is shit and that it doesn't matter one bit how old two people are...If they like each other and they want to date...Let em!

I mean...I'm 17 and i've dated em as young as 14.
