Okay, I have this relationship with this girl. We aren't an exclusive couple. We both can date other people, though right now we are just seeing each other (we both plan to see other people soon). And we are well on our way to becoming lovers.

The thing is, what do you call this relationship? The closest name I can think of in current use is "Friends with Benefits". However, neither of us like this name. It implies the relationship is mostly sexual, which it isn't.

What else can I call the relationship to denote that we are more than friends but not an exclusive couple?

Well, I could say "sluts" but that's too borad of a generalization. You are in a relationship with this woman, but then again you aren't. You have sex, but that's not supposed to be all there is to it. You see each other, but then you see other people. Maybe "free" is an apt term.
