Awkward situation?
Ok so here's the deal, i can't believe i didn't post this in here before fro some ideas. One of my really good friends was dating this girl for about a year, over the summer they broke up and he was pretty much a wreck. About a month before they broke up i broke up with my girlfriend of 16 months. Now i hung out with my friend and consoled him and all that good stuff. This was probably early August of this year. Now as school started i started to meet this girl for the first time and started talking to her. Now after a few weeks i began to develop an interest but i was extremely disillusioned as to the "love game" if you will and, more importantly, i had no intention of backstabbing my friend.
So then fast forward to Late November and i'm making out with this girl on her coach at 11 o'clock at night. Now this presented an awkward situation since we were now together how is my friend going to take it. Not well, he doesn't hate me but says things are goign to be weird with me for a while, this was about 2 months ago.
Now my question is, this kid is like a brother to me and i don't feel like i should have any trouble approaching him but things are just so damned awkward i don't know how to go about patching things back up. On top of that i know he still has feeling for this girl and has told her, and has offered to hook-up with her behind my back. This didn't bother me since i'm not the jealous type and have faith in my girlfriend, on top of that she can't really stand him anymore and we're pretty amazingly enamored with one another. Any advice towards not only patching up my friendship but possibly, and more importantly to me, getting my friend out of this emo breakup shite mood would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Awkward situation?
Sounds like a tough situation. Well, you didn't "steal" her from your friend, it doesn't sound like you caught her on the rebound or anything like that, she has no more feelings for your friend, and your relationship with this girl is maturing perfectly. It sounds to me like your friend is the one causing this whole mess, not you having a relationship with this girl. It seems all he needs to do is let her go and everything should be fine. It also seems you haven't considered that friendship is a mutual thing. Your friend's unwillingness to accept the fact his girlfriend is now yours, and that neither of you did anything wrong, seems...well...odd to me. Most of my friends would simply let her go and wish me luck. In your case, the honest truth is you may have to either dump her or let your friend keep having weird feelings toward you. Then the weird feelings will become envy, then the envy will become anger, the anger becomes rage, and before you know it he snaps and kills you...or something like that. Good luck, man.

Re: Awkward situation?
haha, thanks, i'll keep the envy to homocidal rage progressoin in mind. I suppose i hadn't really thought of the friendship is a two way street bit before. Still i feel kind of bad knowing he's a bit unstable, his parents split up a few months before his break up, and i think he might be a bit depressed. Ah well, any other ideas would still be appreciated.

Re: Awkward situation?
You fucked up. This happened to me last year. You know what though, it wasn't worth it. I lost a best friend for 6 months because I went out with his ex for 2 weeks. I didn't there would be a problem, him and I used to go after eachothers ex's, but this one was different. Don't stab your friend in the back, because when you're fighting, who has your?

Re: Awkward situation?
Come on, he's trying to hook up with your chick behind your back. Who the hell does that to their friend? Fuck him. He's just a weak, pathetic bastard. He doesn't deserve a relationship with your current girlfriend and doesn't deserve your friendship.

Re: Awkward situation?
Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind my friend...I have had to do it a few times myself.
I would say to this guy "Look man...You two are over...Move on!"
You have to tell this guy to stop being such a wuss and get on with life...Tell him to stop pining over this one chick and find a new one!
You two will have a rougher patch but give it time and phone him to see how he is.
Good luck man!
