Yea I saw a show about this on an HBO special about aids and they talked about how africans who were circumcised had a 50 precent likley hood of getting aids.

It is in the name of good health. Circumcision is performed to stop disease, and that is why it is ancient tradition for many cultures. I guess HIV is yet another disease it helps protect against. Call it a butchery if you want, but if it protects people from a life threatening disease, I'm not seeing it as that bad of a thing.

I think thats a bunch of b/s.......it's just one study.......it's nothing offical or of big concern........and really.......circumcision is really a pointless procedure......is it that hard for a guy to pull back his skin and clean it? I think not........and the sex feels better.......voila..............but to everyone their own..........

This is ONE study. One study doesnt mean shit, but it does start a process, and in years to come more studies will be done which either prove this to be true or false.

Jesus fucking Christ. I thought that I had some respect for you guys. There isn't just one study going on. Google it. You can find other studies on the same subject, though I've only seen them in African and India. And not everyone is going to use a condom all of the time. If it were that simple AIDS wouldn't be the epidemic that it is today. Plus, circumcision protects against other health risks beside AIDS.

And cut the "uncircumsized men have more feeling" because unless you can show me an actual scienctific study, your ungrounded statements shall only bring scorn.

The biggest concern about this shouldn't be that, oh my, getting circumcised really does help stop disease. It's that a number of short-sighted assholes who are cut are going to see this and think, hey, I'm cool, I got no foreskin, and wind up catching something.

I would say that it seems ridiculous to spend money on researching whether or not circumcision affects transmission rates of a disease when it can hit anybody, regardless of the odds... but then I think about the article I saw a week ago. Some asshole researching obesity- probably got grant money for this, too- came to the astounding conclusion that the "disease" can often be blamed on..

As opposed to uncircumcised Africans, who have a 100% likelihood of contractinc AIDS, whether they have unprotected sex or not.

I have a few theories

1.perhaps the keratinization of the glans of circumsized men decreases the likelihood of contracting the disease

2.maybe circumsized men have less problems with condoms (therefore are more likely to wear them) being there is no foreskin to work around + maybe the decreased sensation attributed to condoms is noticed less by circumsized men due to an already decreased sensitivity
