Default being in love with someone you don't love?

I went out with this guy for ages.He was my first love I guess,my best friend for ages.We lost our virginities to each other, spent all our spare time together and all that other bullshit that comes with it.He ended up treating me really badly(cheating, using me,basically anything bad you can think of he probably did).I thought I was over him and I feel like I am,yet sometimes I just want what we had back.We spent almost three years as friends and spoke every day even though we lived a bit away from each other.

What I'm wondering is that do you ever get over your "first love"?I don't really want him,it's just that tiny part of me that won't listen to reason...

It might just be because I was so used to him and it broke my usual routine when we stopeed talking. The thing is I can't stand the thought of him touching me but at the same time want him to be there for me again

Oh, that's so normal. You seem to have your head on straight about things.

No one can ever go back. And don't criticize yourself for "not being over it." Just find a special place inside you where you can store the memory. Be fond of the memory, salute it every now and then, but try not to obsess over it.

Hmm.. I guess in a sence it's like losing a family member, you know they are gone forever, you want them back but you know you can't have it, so you try to remember all the good times you had together and keept it in a safe place in your memory.

Purple, I know what you mean, how you feel, you want it back the way it was but you know it won't happen. I assume everyone's like that, just try to remember the good times and close the file, pretty much.

I don't think anyone really ever gets over their first love....the best thing you can do is find somebody wonderful and new. Or mope and cry and get depressed a lot, that worked for me; but then it was horrible.

What exactly do you mean, miss him being there for you? It sounds to me like he wasn't. Ever.

I know exactly what you mean...This time last year I met a girl who I fell in love with, so I am having memories and shit at the moment.

She used me, treated me like an idiot, cheated on me, etc, etc.

I dumped her and never wanted her back but lately I have been missing knowing her and holding her and stuff.

It's normal to miss people even if they did treat you like shit but you'll get over it with time I swear!

Buck up and keep cool matey!
