Wow I agree that sucks. Had you known her age things probably wouldn't have turned out the way they did. I have no advice, sorry. Isn't the age of consent now 16? I mean I know you aren't interested in just that but... Just lie to her parents. Ignorance is bliss.

Edit: Bleh, I misread. So you feel dirty? You really shouldn't. Her mind has more maturing than her body does.

Age of consent varies from state to state, in Florida 16 is legal until you are 24 then it is 18. Really odd law I know.

If you want to justify your feelings for her (or your feelings for each other) just observe the age differences in older couples. Many (most?) parents have at least a couple of years between them.

Don't feel bad, just be careful. If she feels the same way, all you have to do is not have sex with her yet. Do everything else.

Dude I am 17 what do you expect me to focus on. As for what to do I say go for it. Like was said before most older married couples have at least a few years difference in their age. Also does how long you have been on the earth really matter? It is maturaty that matters and I know some teenagers that are more mature than some 40 year olds. As long as you stay in Michigan and don't come down here to Florida and cause compatition for me go for it man.

Well if sex isn't involved I don't see what all the fuss is about. Seriously tons of people have this gap there isn't anything disgusting about it. My bestfriends girl is 19 and he is 23. You are probably going to see than and think "so"? Same situation. The fact that she is 19 only means one thing, she has had more time to mentally mature (even if she is spoiled...). Hell she has the body of a 14 year old.

The thing is you bring up sex and how this isn't about sex. Well what is your problem? You aren't taking her virginity or anything. You have NO reason to feel like you are filthy. Note: She is 16 even if you did take it there isn't anything wrong with it. I'm 18 and 16 is the lowest I'll go. Not because I of their youth or innocence but because their mentality. My senior year I was talking to some freshman (18 - 14, don't you think that is worse??) but then I realized that they were miles from where I was upstairs. I had a life to plan, they had volleyball.

Again, it is my belief once you hit 16 age gaps mean nothing physically till 21. Even at 21 it isn't bad but there is the maturity/mentality gap. Not all girls are as bad but in general.

Let me just stress for you I only bring up sex because why else should you feel dirty?

Furthest thing from your mind my ass. Then why is it bothering you so much that she's 16? There's nothing illegal about you two spending time together, especially given the Michigan age of consent, so what's the problem?

I wish I did know why it bothers me so much. Maybe it's because I feel it's supposed to bother me. Maybe it's because I've been burned so many times in the past that I'm afraid.

Maybe because of this:

A few weeks ago when I first noticed that she was someone I felt I could get along with, I asked if she wanted to hang out some time. Unfortunatly I used a very badly phrased "I was wondering if maybe you wanted to do something sometime". Her response was "Let me think about it." A week and a half later she was still thinking, and it was only then that I realized she thought I had asked her out. Easy mistake, I can butcher a simple concept like no one else. So of course I had to ask what there was to think about. She said it was because she didn't really know me. Now excuse me, but isn't that the whole point?

Fuck it. No harm in seeing what happens. Worst that can happen is that she can lead me on then dump me leaving me a wreck. But that's already happened this year, so I'm not due again for a few months anyway.

I thought 16 was the legal consenting age for sex and stuff!

Probably only in England though!
