Default What do dreams mean to you?

What do they actually mean? If you have sex with a person in your dream, is it just a fantasy? or could it actually show something that might happen?

Every once in a while i get those dreams that seem really wierd....like playing a game with a girl u like and like a few days later ur doing exactly ehat happened in ur dream( i think thats called Deja vu.....i think thats how u spell it?) So what do you people think about your dreams?

My dreams mean that I've finally gotten sleep... Other than that, I don't really know.

Cheers

The Native Indians beleived that dreams were messages from the spirits. What you dreamed, you had to carry out in reality.

When I was typing that, I felt like Wilson from home improvement. Just think about him saying that, I could SO see him saying that.

the brain picks up millions of different pulses from each of the 5 senses every minute. of course, to keep your head from exploding, your brain also filters out all but what is *most* important to you (like what youre seeing, for example). now, when you fall asleep, your subconscious mind reassembles what you picked up that day, but "filtered out". when you goto sleep, you no longer have inputs from sight, smell, taste, etc. so your mind pulls up some random stuff it picked up and "loads" it into a dream. thats why you can taste, smell, feel, etc. while youre dreaming.

in short, your dreams reflect inner thoughts, inner desires, and what-not. so, basically, when youre dreaming about fooling around with a girl, then it HAPPENS... you dreamt it because your brain picked up on it during the day, it just filtered it out from your normal thoughts.

hope that clears it up...

"I just wanna wake up and have a smoke already."

"More like a nightmare, I'd say."

-Silent Hill 3

Gives a good idea of how my dreams go. Nothing but bad dreams at the moment. It's a rare occasion when I have a good dream I can remember.

Anyways, I think they can mean something, but not always. That's just an romantic's illusion, in my opinion.

I rarely remember my dreams.

I used to sleepwalk a lot, never remembered that either. I still sleep kinda wierd, if I'm about to fall asleep sometimes I'll start seeing things or if I wake up and I'm still kinda asleep I'll start walking around for no reason and then a minute later I'm asking myself why I just did that.

"Native Indians"? As opposed to what, "Immigrant Indians"? Sheesh.

Speaking as a half-breed redskin and a shaman myself, many indigenous cultures distinguish between Big Dreams and Little Dreams. BDs are significant, prophetic and so forth, usually characterized by being especially vivid and repeated over several nights. LDs are pretty much what the name implies.

For a good western take on dreams, see Man and His Symbols by Yung.

I always have the same dream but different scenario. It's always me and this girl that I really like. I always see her but she and I never meet. It's like I see her than I'm pulled away from here. It's a good dream but a bad one, it's nice seeing her but bad not to be with her. Reminds me of part of a Led Zeppelin song, "I see you in my dreams but I just don't see you with me".

The last dream I was in a car and she too. Well as we passed she stopped and stood up (as it was a convertible) with an excited expression on her face and waved to me. The car I was in kept driving and I got as far out of the window as I could and just put my hand up and watched her as I was taken away. I couldn't even speak.

Kind of reminds me of real life were she came to my open house and I just watched her walk away out of my life. I wanted to yell and ask her to stay and such but she has a boyfriend so I just kind of sat there and watched.

That too reminds me of a lyric, this one from Boston, "I closed my eyes and she slipped away" That she did, god damn I'm a douche bag.

Native indians as opposed to Indians from India. I used the term because not all natives I am refering to are from America, some are from Canada. I know that from tribe to tribe the Philosophies on dreams change, but I know the Iriquois are BIG on the theory that dreams should be carried out in real life. At least they were back in the day before the white man came and rid them of their culture...

EDIT: wanted to add something

This is wierd, This girl I liked alot for a few years (I can't say love, just becuase) went out with this asshole who is now in college. I talk to her all the time, flirt with her and shit. Anyways, like Thursday nite I had a dream that her boyfriend brok up with her and she was crying and then we got all romantic and stuff. It's wierd, because in my most of my dreams, wierd stuff happens, like the sky will turn colors without warning and stuff. Anyways, after waking up from this dream on friday, I went to school. It's homecoming weekend, so we had a pep rally last period. After I walked out of the pep rally, I saw her boyfriend (we hate each other) standing outside the door waiting for her. I almost fucking threw a chair at him. I was so pissed off for some reason.

Now for an explanation:

I think I had this dream in the first place because I was talking to her Thursday nite on AIM before I went to bed. We talked for a little while, then we stopped, but she never closed my window. I know this becuase I had sent her a picture so we were "directly connected" and when someone closes the window, it says "direct connection is now closed". It never said that. So out of nowhere, she IMs me and says "What does college have to do with anything?". I said What? And she said, "oh sorry, wrong window". SO my guess is her and her boyfriend where fighting. That's why i had the dream, my brain must have figured she was fighting with her boyfriend, and that broke them up. I guess it didn't though. She came into school Friday and looked a little sad, but happier towards the end of the day.

I guess I must have been pissed off becuase now I know they didn't break up. Which come to think of it is really selfish and not at all like me.

Or maybe, I'm not being selfish, maybe I just want the best for her? Not him, but anyone else? I don't know.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I have even gotten to the point at which I remember my dream in the middle of what I'm doing and predict what happenens next. So far, its little stuff, nothing like lottery numbers, but it's still cool. As for understanding dreams, I reccomend "Dreams For Dummies" because not only will you learn to decode them, but there are excercises to help you remember more of your dreams.

peace

i am in the lucky/unlucky position of being able to remember almost all my dreams with remarkable accuracy.i have near perfect sensation in my dreams. often a good thing, sometimes not(eg the mad alsatians). i often go to the same places or see the same people none of whom i know in "waking" life.

once, after some intense meditation, i was just lying on my bed observing the reality.i had been working on controlling my responses to external stimuli. the universe was throughing all it had at me. mosquitoes, cramps, heat rash and i'm just letting it all wash over me. then the pressure gets psychological. i start visualizing all my worst case scenarios. gruesome deaths of loved ones etc. etc. still i lie there, calm.

i'll never forget what happened next. try to imagine a completely invisible entity making love to you. it was exquisite. this spirit was really there. well as real as you or i. but then i did something dreadful. i got all catholic on it's ass. i thought this has been sent to test my response to the sensations of the flesh. i just refused to respond and it went away. i think i'll regret that for the rest of my life. the trick is not to cleave to or become averse to sensation not to block it out. so if anyone of you astrally projects i may owe you an apology.
