PH sounds like F.... PHaaaase... phase... If I paypal you $10 will you go buy a dictionary?

quote:trust me

Why, because you're gay, and your decision to become gay stemmed from the mal-treatment you endured as a child? That still wouldn't give you the right to make such a general assumption about EVERY homosexual person.

Anyway, before you go posting your far-out theories you might wanna check them for flaws... go ahead and show us some figures on how many abused children end up homo, and how many end up hetero? Something to back up your claim perhaps? Look into it and I'm confident that you'll discover just how wrong you are.

I'm good freinds with many gay people and very few of them are gay because of bad experiences. I have a friend who hates men so shes lesbian. I have another friend that hates sex so she's a lesbian. There are many factors to consider. More than likely, you don't know shit about it. I don't think there is anything wrong with gays and I do think that it is mostly chemicals in the brain telling you to be gay. That's just my opinion.

I've been in what I think is that whole teenage gay/bisexual phase for a few years now. It's actually pretty cool. Guys are sexy in different ways from girls. But it can be hella awkward at times. Plus, it is much harder to find good gay porn than it is to find straight/lesbian porn (goddamn it, I am so tired of American-made lesbian porn).

From The Psychology of Mental Health, by Louis P. Thorpe:

Homosexuality

Homosexuality is defined as overt erotic intrest or sex relations between individuals of the same sex. The Kinsey investigation emphasized the point that individuals cannot be rigidly classified into heterosexual or homosexual types. Although there are persons whose histories are exclusively heterosexual or exclusively homosexual, a considerable portion of the population is composed of individuals who combine homosexual and heterosexual tendancies, at least at the fantasy level. Whereas in some cases heterosexual experiences predominate, in others homosexual experiences are in the ascendency, and in still others approximately equal amount of both types of experience are in the picture; the person may move freely from one type of contact to the other, just as diffrent types of sexual techniques may be found pleasurable. In certain cultures and during certain historical periods, homosexuality has been accepted and even honored as an expression of a tender and enduring love between members of the same sex.

Another frequent though erronous beleif is that certain characteristics are common to all homosexuals. In reality traits which are alleged to be characteristic of male homosexuals, such as feminine distribution of body hair, high pitched voice, and well-developed breasts, are found in many males who are not homosexual. Conversely, many apparently highly masculine males are active homosexuals.

Here again is seen the conditioning force of the cultural expecancy with respect to the male-female sterotype. "Tom boy" girls are pushed into competition with boys and find difficulty in being accepted in feminine roles; "pretty" or shy male children may be overprotected by women and rejected by the "gang". Searching desperately for acceptance, these children later may become prey to homosexual advances. Environmental influences instrumental in the development of homosexuality include the following:

1) Accidental, pleasurable sexual contacts with members of the same sex. For example, bodily contacts of an erotic nature may be experienced when children of the same sex or parent and child sleep together.

2) Isolation or segrigation of children of the same sex over long periods of time, as in military schools, finishing schools, boarding schools, and corectional institutions.

3)Antagonism toward a parent of the opposite sex, causing the child to develop feelings of fear or extreme dislike toward members of the opposite sex who represnt the hated parent.

4) Unsatisfactory social relationships with members of the opposite sex combined with opportunities for acceptance by members of the same sex.

5) Inharmonious marital relationships between parents which may produce an aversion in the child for hetrosexual relations which seem to be involved in the hostile interactions.

6) Strong attachment to a parent of the same sex especially when physical contacts are seductive in frequency or intensity.

7) Faulty attitudes on sex subjects expressed by parents, teachers, and other adults.

8) Dealing with the male child as a girl, and the female child as a boy, coupled with a lack of encouragement to associate with members of the opposite sex.

9) Sexual satisfaction in early homosexual situations which foster a desire to continue such relationships. (23)

Adult homosexuality, at least to a degree, is an adjustment mechanism by means of which the inpsychological dangers such as being rejected or humiliated by some member of the opposite sex or by the prospect of failure in competition with another person who is vying for the favor of the same member of the opposite sex. Such a person may visualize failure as a parent and thus desire to avoid having offspring. However, the homosexual individual may rationalize his actions (thus avoiding the threat to his ego) by convincing himself that he is doing something that others would not dare do, or which permits him to "belong to the gay world" and thus have a certain status by virtue of association with a minority group. He solves the problem of being rejected by members of the opposite sex or of failing in competition by submitting to or dominating someone of his own sex, a situation in which there is little competition.

Because of the widely accepted taboos reguarding deviant sexual behavior, many homosexuals are more or less constantly frustrated in their sexual desires. They thus may lead lives of worry and conflict which in some cases are marked by withdrawl tendencies and seclusiveness. They may even distrust each other because of fear of detection. Marked feelings of inferiority and personal inadequacy also may result.

It can be seen that social pressures, especially when coupled with the individual's efforts to maintain his self-esteem and sense of personal worth, are likely to bring about severe emotional conflicts in the life of the homosexual. It is believed that in numerous instances these conflicts are resolved autocorrectively by recourse to criminal behavior, drug addiction, or alcoholism, as well as such psychoneurotic or psychotic conditions as anxiety states, paranoia, and schizophrenia. Reaserches in schizophrenia have indicated that homosexuality may be a casual factor in this pstchosis.(24) The responsibility for this situation now is recognized as being to a large degree one of society itself and that punishment or certainly acheives desireable goals for either the individual or the group.

Clinicians do not as yet understand the psychology of the homosexual with any degree of thoroughness. From the standpoint of mental hygiene, tolerance toward and acceptance of the homosexual would appear to be a basic minimum for setting the stage for a solution of his problem. The homosexual is neither a monster nor a martyr, but a person with special needs and a member of a society. Writing from the standpoint of an active and acknowledges member of the "gay" world, Donald Cory has stated that "In any human relationship involving more than one person, there must be give and take...All of us, those in our group and in the hostile world, are animal-like at heart, easily aroused, desiring many, but living in a civilization whose rules require discripline and self-control. Those of us who have rejected a certain portion of these rules cannot live by the laws of the jungle... and at the same time reap the benefits of a social life founded on quite opposite principles...If there is one lesson, useful to yourself and to society, that you can learn from your experience, it is that all human beings are brothers and merit treatment as such..."(25)

Gays are gay because they wear nice clothes, smell good, look good and can cook. If I had all that, I'd be gay too.
