Has anyone ever had he feeling of reaching 'plateaus' in their relationships? I mean like after you say 'I love you' to your gf/bf don't you feel kind of like that's it? The only other thing to work up to (if you haven't already) is sex, and in my situation (my gf wants to wait until she has no regrets, but that's what she said about the love word and that didn't take too long) it seems almost selfish... has anyone else ever felt this way?

Yeah, you're talking about what's known as "the great beyond" in a relationship.

Up to the "I love you" part the relationship is like waiting in a long line for the Top Thrill Dragster with her.. It's kind of fun waiting in line; you get all touchy-feely and you have this sense of anticipation alternating with impatience.

Getting on the ride is much like the brief "honeymoon" phase which ensues the "I love you." It's a thrill, someone's likely to vomit, but the experience is always a bit too brief.

Then the rest of the relationship, like the rest of the amusement park, feels like a bit anticlimactic. It's never quite as thrilling, but you do feel a sort of comfort in walking around, experiencing the lesser rides and waiting for her to use the bathroom the umpteenth time without feeling annoyed.

Then you know it's "real" love when you leave the park altogether and can still stand the sight of each other.

Anyway, in case I did read it right... No, it isn't selfish at all. Virginity is a big gift... it's not to be taken lightly just because so many sluts toss it around like a fraternity grab bag... If she does fuck you consider it the biggest compliment of your life.
