Best Icebreaker
I'd say dancing. Once you are dancing you can get to know a lot about each other and not feel nervous about it(assuming you can dance and aren't too focused on how good you are).

Re: Best Icebreaker
depends on your strengths in the dating game. gift of the gab - conversation. got the rhythm - dance. rich - offer to buy her anything her pretty little head can think of (works well if you own a multinational corporation). i usually go for conversation. most of the time, you let her do all the talking and you do the listening. throw in a witty comment or say something powerfully relevant every now and then and you can talk for hours. suddenly you both find yourselves with nothing left to talk about, its 4 a.m. and you are at one of your respective dwellings. hmmm, what shall we do now?

Re: Best Icebreaker
I'd say talking for longer then 10 mins, if you can keep somebody intrested for that length then you are getting on quite well.

Re: Best Icebreaker
I'm a great talker. I can't talk on and on about totaly nothing or just everything. I can make people say things that they actually don't wanna say withouth them even knowing. And people actually do listen to me

Re: Best Icebreaker
I only dance as an icebreaker when I CAN dance. Like, obviously I can't dance at school when I want to talk to a girl, so thats when I'd use talking. However, my only problem with just going up and talking is that it can be very hard. Like, its easier to simply ask a hot girl to dance (which can be done in 5 words or less) than it is to randomly go up to her and start trying to flirt/hook up with her. Its like there is a wall between going up to her and then talking. Ignoring the wall can make things more nervous, but if you have something to get you over that wall, its a lot easier.
When I was learning how to dance and shit, the teacher kept telling us that dancing is the greatest icebreaker to use if you have the chance. I just realized how right he was like a few weeks ago.

Re: Best Icebreaker
Dancing? Ugh. In that regard, paraplegics have it easy.
Personally, I find that one great icebreaker is just to be hammered and stand outside the dorm smoking. Other hammered people will walk up and chat, bum your lighter, etc. This has the added advantage of being able to tell a little more about a person off the bat - drinking lowers the verbal inhibitors, and you can tell a lot about somebody by how they get drunk.
For the sober-inclined, go to the library and walk up to some girl reading a book that leans towards your particular interests. Ask her where the (polisci/history/classics/whatver) section is. It can lead to some nice little conversations.
And if you're no good at talking, well, then I have no advice for you. Uh... work out a lot?
