If you want to be pedantic, semen isn't alive...The sperm within it is the living part! 
But I know what you mean.
Oxidisation will kill it relatively quickly but if in the right conditions, i.e. the vagina or uterus, each cell will live until it has depleted its energy resources. |

the vagina isn't idea conditions man, it's too acidic. kills sperm pretty quick. takes 3 days to kill like 50 million. thats like 1000 times faster than auschwicz. i'll never send spermies into a hellhole like that.

I remember this from loveline. In the open, as in, when its on your face or hands or otherwise exposed to air, it can live about 8 hours.
