Anti-depressents and Sex
I have been taking Zoloft since the age of 9. During puberty, everything changed normally except penis size. At the age of 15 i found out that I had trouble ejaculating, it took over 30 minutes no matter what I did. Apparently anti-depressents make you very unsensitive and inhibit various sexual things. Is it possible that this drug could have in theory shut down my genital growth when i was taking it? No that I have stopped, and am 17, it is much much easier to ejaculate and have an erection, but i do not know if i will start growing. Does anyone know anything about this topic or have similar experiences? And if it doesnt start growing, does anyone know of anything that enlarges your penis. I hear mixed things on surgury. Thanks

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Wait, is this true? Is it permanent? I was on Zoloft for a while, I stopped a while ago, and I'm sort of, um, not sensitive down below. Could Zoloft be the cause?

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
I know for a fact Zoloft makes it hard to achieve an erection and makes the nerves a lot less sensitive.. so yes.. that could be the cause... but i dont know whether it would inhibit growth or not? I am going to the doctor tomorrow to talk about it, i will keep u posted.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
yeah zoloft actually is a cause. i checked on RXlist.com and it does say "decreased sexual sensitivity" and "prolonged ejaculation"
damn those side effects... maybe it can be reversible though?

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Does this apply to women? They didn't fucking tell me that! God fucking damnit. This is part of the cause of my not that great sex, my sensitivity is almost not there.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Anti-depressents make me take longer to ejaculate. Thats all it did to me when I was on Zoloft.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Nobody has answered my question yet, does anybody know if the side-effects are permanent or long-term? I looked this up but couldn't find anything relevent.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
I was on zoloft, made me gain 40 pounds, didn't want sex at all, but now i'm fine, so i don't think it's permanent, at least in females. actually, sex is better than ever now. hope this helps.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Anti depressants lowered my sex drive considerably.
Even when I would choke the chicken, it took ages to get myself off.
It's all to do with the brain chemicals and the way the drugs affect them.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
Steph- lowered sexual drive while on anti-depressants is common, but I have yet to hear of anyone being permanently affected in that way. How old were you when you started taking Zoloft, and how long were you on it for?

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
This is the site I originally got some information from.
http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/pharmclips2.cgi?keyword=%20Zoloft%AE
if you go there it has some "possible" side effects, but i'm sure even more affect people.

Re: Anti-depressents and Sex
It has to do with serotonin levels... Most of the anti-depressants used nowadays are SSRIs. These cause a large amount of serotonin to build up in your brain. For some reason too much serotonin messes around with sex drive, erections, ejaculation, etc. Try to get a boner next time you're rolling X if you aren't on anti-depressants. You'll get to see what its like.
