Default Ladies, a little help, please? (periods & cramps)

Okay...I am one of those bitches who always said grin and bear it to other girls with cramps because I have never had them before, and didn't think they could be that bad.

My luck has worn out.

How the hell do you deal with them barring special medications like midol? ( can't get to the store for the next two days)

Also, could this be because I got off my medications while in big mopey mode? I have been off them for almost a month, and the whole purpose of them is to keep me regular (I used to have extremely heavy periods for two weeks or more, and then skip a month or two.) I have been on this med since I was around 14.

Either way, I need a fix for them and I need it NOW. It hurts to sit, it hurts to stand, and it hurts to lay down.

While not female, logic would certainly suggest that whatever meds you took were keeping the cramps at bay. Was there a reason other than being mopey that you stopped? If not, then I suppose starting up again will have the same effect in the future.

As for the pain itself, even though it might be good, all the girls I know say fuck Midol. Most get some Tylenol PM.

Anything Ibuprophen based, like Advil, or even generic.

Don't give in to food cravings, if you have them, they heighten cramps.

All I can say is hot drinks, excercize (yes- moving does help) and lots of rest. Maybe a hot water bottle, if it's really severe?

Um..as bad as it sounds, it just wasn't on my mind or a concern. Prolly should take it up again, otherwise no kids for me in the future.

What do you mean will have the same effect? as in more cramps, or the cramps will go away?

and.. anyone know an herbal equivalent? I do not have anything except asprin, cough syrup, peptobismal, and tums. At least all that is recognizeable. I have a few mystery drugs my mom gave me, but I lost her written guide to them.

ps: god is punishing me for skipping class this morning.. I know it in my bones.

How do food cravings heighten cramps? and while I have the fun cravings which made me read cookbooks for two hours, I have no milk to make brownies with at the moment, and no roast beef or pickles. Its the end of the two week period, and grocery time.

If these mystery drugs have bottles, look on the ingredients for Ibuprophen. That should be the active one, and that will help you tons.

Edit: By food cravings, I'm mainly referring to chocolate. I know it's a cliché, but I do find that I NEED chocolate right before I'm due. When I eat it, however, I get the worst cramps ever. If I didn't notice them before, I sure as hell do as soon as I finish that choccy.

If you had no cramps while taking the meds before, logically you should have no cramps when you go back on them.

Aspirin and warm liquids are the best shot with what you have to work with there. Drink tea, chicken broth, even just warm water (not tap warm.)

If you have a heating pad, lie down and rest it on your lower abdomen.

hot water bottle!

and you should be checked for endometriosis, it can cause symptoms like you have discribed.

and paracetemol is as good a pain reliever as any. I know i get a back ache sometimes, and it does fine with some panadol.

Nope, I have been checked thoroughly for stuff. I have polycystic ovarian syndrom, but not that.

Either way, it sucks. Makes weight harder to loose, and my hair grows faster so I can't keep a good hair cut for any long period of time. I used to shave my head the day after school let out, and my hair would be brushing my ass by the time late August rolled around, and school started again. Also makes it harder to have kids. *thanks mom for her terrific genes*

on the other hand..when I accidentally plucked too much off an eyebrow once, I was very glad it was back within a month. :P

If you'd like assistance identifying these meds, post any identifying markings from the pills themselves (letters, numbers, symbols) and I'll look it up. Or if you're up to it you can try looking it up here. (http://www.rxlist.com)

TAKE A HOT BATH. honestly. it relieves the tense muscles that keep contracting and decreases the cramps tremendously, if they don't at least stop. on top of that, take tylenol pm. rids the pain, knocks you out.
