Re: gf's hair
Guys are stupid. But I guess I can't say much because I told the guy I'm fucking that I was going to shave my head and he said I shouldn't, so I didn't. Ditto on dreads. My hair sucks.
In response to your question, wait for it to grow out, dipshit.

Re: gf's hair
Every time I've had my hair cut shorter it disappoints the guy I'm dating. Maybe I date shallow bastards, but I realized that changing something that attracts guys on a fundamental level is a mistake.
Not much you can do, shithawk. You'll probably get used to it, but that doesn't help now.

You do date shallow bastards, then. My girlfriend gets her hair cut, lets it grow, dyes it, whatever. I love her for who shw is, not for appearance... but yeah, she's adorable anyway.

Re: gf's hair
How long was her hair before, and how long is it now? I can sort of understand if she had gorgeous long, flowing hair and she cut it to chin length. That would suck.

You're a fucking misogynist asshole! You don't run her life, and I hope that she realizes that you want to, and you realize that you shouldn't want to. Your relationship would be a lot better off...
...
Eh. Just fucking around! (not really, you're still a misogynist asshole). Anyway, what don't you like about her new hair? Does it just make her look fugly (like short hair tends to make really skinny, rat-looking, or plain-featured girls fugly), or was her long hair really sexy? If it just makes her look stupid, you could try waiting til it grows out a bit. Or maybe a perm/relax/wave will make it look better. If you just liked her with long hair... you could have her wear a wig. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing.

Re: gf's hair
I ask for input from boyfriends when it comes to my hair. I'm not too picky about what is done with my hair, and appart from myself, their opinion of my appearance is the only one I really care about.
If I wanted to do something badly enough, it wouldn't matter what my bf thought, and if he tried to excersize some kind of control over anything like that I'd be seriously annoyed.
Likewise, I hope my guy doesn't go doing something stupid to his hair without at least asking me what I think... but if it was very important to him then of course I would recognize that it is his hair, his choice. It's a cinch to say that I wouldn't love him or be less attracted to him because of a silly haircut.

Re: gf's hair
If you don't want to run her life, then why did you tell her not to cut her hair. Its her hair! I could understand suggesting that she doesn't. But to be so pissed off that she cut her hair suggests that your anger is more towards the fact that she went against your wishes than the fact that she changed her appearance and it wasn't for the better.
Anyway, it won't take very long for her hair to get back to that length.

Re: gf's hair
Geez, I hate to sound like the old biddy here, but most of you gals have the luxury of youth. Sure, in theory, it's right and good to run our own lives and make our own personal decisions.
However, on certain issues, I've learned it's better for all to bend a bit.
I have long-ish hair (middle of the back) and it seems to be a primary factor that attracts guys. Even though I might get involved with someone, and he gets to the point where he truly appreciates me, he still has that initial attraction ingrained.
I don't think it's any more appropriate for me to make a significant change with my hair as it is to gain 20 pounds.

Re: gf's hair
I'm not all that young.
I've made decisions before regarding my appearance while in serious relationships. Sometimes, if its something like drastically cutting my hair, or dyeing it permanently, I'll consult my boyfriend. If he says not to do it (and he has a good reason, I've been with a few guys who said not to do it simply because the thought didn't cross their puny little minds first), I usually won't. Unless, of course, I truly want to do it. However, if I were with a guy who made a big stink about it, I'd dump him, kick him in the balls, and shave my head. Nobody makes my decisions for me, and nobody has in a long time. This probably explains why, despite being asked (and even told!) to cut my hair on numerous occasions, I can still tuck the ends into my back pockets.
Ladies, don't show up out of the blue with a shaved head. At least give your guy a little bit of a heads-up first (like shithawk's girlfriend obviously did). But, don't ever take orders from another human being when your own mind and conscience can function perfectly well on their own.

Re: gf's hair
Easy folks. He said he told her not to, but given that this medium doesn't always get the full point across, consider the possibilities. Yeah, caring enough to post about it is pretty shallow, but he's being treated as though he said, dammit woman, don't you dare cut your hair, I forbid it!
It may have been more like, "I'm going to cut my hair." "No, don't cut your hair." That's it. It's possible to say those words, but not be an asshole. It's meant like, "I don't think you should cut your hair."
Of course he could have been a dick about it. I don't know, and there's no real way to tell. But there's no reason to get bent out of shape about it, either.

Re: gf's hair
Feminazism is dead, ladies.
Sure, as human beings, you're entitled to your freedom of choice that no one, whether John Ashcroft or an admittedly shallow boyfriend can take away, but whatever happened to bending a little? Hell, we bend for you all the time - almost every woman I've dated, and the girlfriends/wives of many friends of mine, have some kind of gripe or another about their men. His hair's too short/long/dark/light/spikey/stiff/soft/curly/limp, his dick is too small/big/crooked, his personality is too annoying/boring/maniacal/militant/depressive/cheery, whatever. It's always bitch, bitch, bitch from most girls, about some trait or another, whether physical or otherwise. My goal isn't to absolve the male animal from any wrongdoing here; we're all the exact same way, but it seems as if most of you ladies are attempting to elevate yourselves here - "It's my hair and my choice, and if my boyfriend doesn't like it, he's a shallow asshole who deserves to be dumped! Men are pigs! Seig Heil!"
Yes, depending upon the degree, it is shallow of a man to bitch about his partner's hair - however, saying "but I like it better this way" does not constitute shallow bitching; what the hell is wrong with preferring longer hair over short? As Mr. Hawk said here, he still loves her and finds her sexy, but he just liked her hair longer! That's where it ends! He didn't say, "I told my girlfriend, 'bitch, don't cut your fucking hair! I'll leave you if you do!'", he simply expressed to her that he liked it better longer. She exercised her freedom of choice and cut it anyway, and Hawk still loves her and respects that wish. It ends there.
Seriously, stop your mewling. Don't crucify a man because he prefers your hair to look a certain way, unless he deserves it (which I fully agree he does, if he makes a huge deal out of it and lets it affect the relationship). We don't do it to you when you bitch about the stubble on our faces or about how our shirt color doesn't match our pants; we bend. We shave our faces for you, we let you pick our shirt. So come on, return the fucking favor, bend just a bit. It's not going to be some massive compromise of your equal rights beliefs; it'll be a nice thing to do for your guy.
And that's where it ends.

Re: gf's hair
Hair is a sexual signal. Thats why many older cultures do things to limit or hide long and healthy looking hair in married women.
You were obviously, naturally, attracted to your girlfriend's hair. It bothers you now because, obviously, its less attractive, and because she altered a sexual signal DESPITE your protests, which resonates as an insult that undermines your place in the relationship. If shes changing a sexual signal to something you DONT like, you feel uncomfortable because you are probably percieving a new signal- that she is trying to attract different men.
Dump this slut.

Re: gf's hair
If you think of this girl in the way you are supposed to, then cutting her hair, dying it or some other form of physical change shouldn't bother you too much.
Being with someone purely for physical and sexual reasons is shallow, my friend!

Stop flaming the guy. He told the girl not to do it and she did, he can be upset with it if he wants.
Sounds like a bad situation, tell her how you feel. Honesty is important.

Re: gf's hair

Bullshit. Women's bodies are meant to look nice. The female figure has no function other than attracting men. (Im talking about the sexual dimorphism part. I dont mean the fact that they have opposable thumbs, I mean the parts about women that are different from men)
Being with someone purely for physical and sexual reasons is shallow, my friend!
Having sex with your friends is shallower. That degrades sex to a kind of mutual masturbation. A romantic relationship between man and woman is before and above anything else, sexual. There is nothing shallow or coarse or lewd about that. Sexuality and love in such a relationship become part of the same thing. This is a concept far deeper than the "shallow" idea of liking a girl as a friend and having sex with her. That is the relationship that says sex is purely physical and meaningless.

Re: gf's hair
If a girl wants to cut her hair, it's her hair.
If a guy wants a more attractive girl, it's his life.
Not every relationship survives change.
How you look is part of you.
