Default Help

Warning: This topic is equal parts B&M, S&A, and Spurious.

It's actually mostly a whine-fest, but it has real meaning to me, and as I've never really posted a self-indulgent topic before, humor me.

Here's some background:

I've lived in New York all my life. In late March 2003, however, we moved to North Carolina. This in itself was a shock to me. I started school, however almost as soon as I got there school was over, leaving me severely deficient of friends and things to do over the summer.

This in itself wasn't too horrible, but then, due to financial strains and a whole other story I'm not going to make you groan through, we decided to take a road trip out to Nevada with some little known pseudo-relatives of my fathers.

Long story short, we ended up in Utah, living with my Aunt and Uncle, who, while cool, aren't the supportive family types that we had in north carolina, and new york for that matter. We've now been living in Utah for a month, and we just started school three days ago.

All this in itself isn't too bad, but now here's the twist that's been driving me crazy for about a week:

My parents (mostly my mother) want to move back to North Carolina.

Reasons being:

All of our possessions are there

My mother's parents are really cool and nice and live out there

It's cheaper to live out there

My mom hates the people here

Now, although I've started to meld well at school already...

I've rationalized every aspect of moving so that it no longer matters to me. It's not like I have any say so, but it's better if I try to be as upbeat about it as possible.

I mean, it's going to be hell switching into a school that's been going on for a month, but I've proved my adjustment skills by making multiple friends in only three days of school here.

When I say every aspect, I actually left out one exception. The reason I'm hesitating as I type this is because it's completely irrational and bears no good explanation, yet it's what's been driving me almost to the point of tears, and I can't stop thinking about it. I actually don't care if you flame me or try to help me with this problem, it's just tearing me up inside and I need to get it out.

Please excuse the melodrama that follows

There's this girl in a class I'm in (computer programming class). I don't even know her name, but she's struck me as the most beautiful and desirable female I've ever met. Again, I've only seen her once, but the only reason I'm not accepting that we're moving back to NC is because of the fact that I'll never see her again or even get to know her in the first place.

This is really messing me up, and I'd just like some, no, any feedback. This is just plain crazy.

Thanks

PS: Sorry for the double post, just humor me this once.

Go talk to her and try to make friends or ask her out right away. Be assertive and persistent, i.e. don't take “no” for an answer. Even if she rejects you, you are still moving; and if you don't do it, you will regret it. It should be a good experience for you.

Dammit, that's what I was going to say. The only problem is that if things work out with her you still have to move. But if you mom's cool maybe she'll let you stay with the Utah relitives.

(edit: shat -> stay. I have no idea how I got a typo that bad)

yea, that's pretty much my predicament. Unfortunately, I'm only 15, and I doubt my mom is liberal enough to let me live across the country from her. Anyway, the pro of moving back to NC is I'm only 10 hours away from my buddies in NY, which is reasonable.

Again, the only problem is this girl.

Thankfully, for no particular reason, I feel a bit better. i.e. I'd still like to talk to her, but it's not an all-consuming problem like before.

Thanks to who responded, although I think just talking it out helped immeasurably.

Talk to her.

If it turns out horribly, you won't have any regrets, thinking about "the way things could have been." You can just move on.

If things go well, you'll miss her a whole lot, but you can always keep in touch, and you will at least have gotten something out of this.

North Carolina kicks so much ass. I love it there, that's paradise second to Fiji.

Anyway, get her number. If she rejects you it doesn't matter because you're moving anyway. You won't have to see her everyday and will eventually forget. Or at least pushed to the back of your mind. If she gives you her number, you guys can talk on the phone and have something to look forward to when summer comes around. "Mom, I really want to visit Aunty and Uncle."

Your situation is pretty much non-solvable. There's only 2 possible outcomes:

1. You get to know her....she's

perfect....and then you have to move.

2. You get to know her....she's a bona-fide bitch....and then you have to move.

Obviosly, #1 would be terrible. #2 would actually be great, 'cause you would be leaving the bitch behind before she could mess with you.

So try to make #2 happen on the occasion of your very first conversation with her, and get your agony over with FAST!! Just call her an ugly skenk (or whatever), and you will have "your problem" behind you immediately with no long suffering or whining to bear. (hee hee)!! Love, Venus.

PS: Just kidding!! Good luck. Love, Venus.

just go up to her and say "hi...erm...noticed you around...and i don't know how long i'm going to be here so do you wanna go out sometime seeing as i might never see you again"

that could work.

or just say "hi...wanna do some low level programming together baby?! "
