cold sores are caused by a form of herpes virus. this virus causes open sores in your mouth. cold sores are als known as oral herpes.

eyesore is correct...a cold sore is a less violent form of the herpes strain.

unless she has herpes, i don't think a simple cold sore could give you full blown herpes...because everyone has the cold sore virus in them from an early age...some just react differently to it...i.e: some don't suffer, some have massive sores round their yaps!
