Youth and integrity.
It seems that, because I am a young male, I automatically get pinned with this expectation of being some amoral, unscrupulous person.
I'm currently attending band camp, and it seems that many of the young ladies also attending become surprised when they find guy with morals and integrity. I was speaking with a girl from El Paso, TX, (consequently being the first person I was kissed by, the year before. I didn't reciprocate, however) and she kept bringing up the thought of me finding a girlfriend. She even offered to 'hook me up' with a girl, should I want that. (As to whether I give a damn or not, I seem to be rather popular with the girls there, according to this person) The only thing is, that's not what I want, and it seems that many people my age don't understand that not all guys are out to get laid as much as they possibly can.
There seems to be this broad and sweeping generalization that all young men are out to be stupid and do that kind of thing, and I think this is wrong. I also think it is wrong that there are so few people with morals, and even fewer people willing to sacrifice to uphold said morals.
(On a final side note, I'm not romantically involved with anybody, nor do I plan to be within the next year or so. I just thought I would post this, because I was confronted with it today.)

Re: Youth and integrity.
A guy with morals and integrity? I thought there weren't anymore! If what you say is true, you have my respect for that alone. Take pride in that and damn anyone who flames you.

Re: Youth and integrity.
the generalization, in my experience tends to be true. if you dont fit into the general population (in this case young males), then people tend to throw you in anyway. If you want to uphold your morals, i think thats great. Just dont compromise yourself. You can try to explain to people that you feel this way, but most people your age wont believe you. In my opinion, you are just going to have to try to uphold your morals. Put your effort into other things, instead of girlfriends as most people your age would. If people criticize you, then you will just have to learn to live with it. It is better to not compromise and be criticized, rather than to compromise your beliefs to fit in. I hope things get easier for you.

Re: Youth and integrity.
Don't knock it till you've tried it. You must be a virgin.
I'm all for morals and stuff but having a healthy sex drive doesn't go against any morals I'm aware of. Why don't you want to be with a girl? In my opinion, wanting sex isn't a bad, immoral thing. Sexuality is a part of who we are. Yes, there are guys that take it too far and are no less than a male whore but I mean hooking up now and then doesn't cause any harm. And every person I've met tnhat has engaged in any sexual activity ejoyed it and want to repeat it. That is why I say you must be a virgin or have little experience sexually. Most people who hold that morals thing against wanting to 'hook up' are the ones who havent' done it.
*Warning* Very generalized statement coming up: All the girls who act proper and want their first time to be special, end up becoming full fledged sex maniacs once they lose their virginity. Why? Because sex is good, it feels good, it's healthy, and it doesn't hurt anyone.
Maybe you should think about your sexuality. Are you attracted to females? Are you on any libido-crushing medications? Maybe the spark of interest hasn't hit you yet. But don't say you don't want sex because you have morals. People that have sex on a regular basis have morals too. (That statement hit a nerve with me).

Re: Youth and integrity.
I think he was saying sex isnt all he thinks about and he has many other things that occupy him and hes happy with it, he is just tired of generisations made by people. Also he never actually said he doesnt want to have a girlfriend because of his morals. That was just and example scenario of the stereotyping etc.
Also within my circles people respect others who go againt the grain in thier descisions on smoking/drinking/sex/weed etc.

Re: Youth and integrity.
Morals and integrity are good qualities. Albeit you won't get shit for appreciation for them until after high school.

well, im perfectly fine with the fact that im a very moral, sex crazed maniac. im sick of people telling teenagers that sex is wrong and wanting sex is bad. there is nothing immoral about having a sex drive.

I'm not trying to say I don't want to be involved in a relationship because of my morals. I am also not saying that people that choose to have sex on a regular basis don't have morals.
Why do I not want to be with a girl? Because of the pains they cause at the high school age. Girls at my general maturity level are difficult to find for me, and girls my age (for the most part) are too fickle.
Yes, I'm still a virgin, but that has little relevence to my stance on the matter.
I'm also not saying that I'm morally against 'hooking up'. I simply don't want to.
I am attracted to females, I'm not on any libido-crushing medications, and sure, I've been interested in plenty of people. Until they turned out to be assholes or something of the like.
I guess I could have phrased what I said in my earlier post a little better. I'm not, at this time, interested in being involved with somebody.
I'm not saying that people who have sex on a regular basis don't have morals. However, I think that people, male or female, that whore themselves around are somewhat amoral. I do think there is a difference.
I didn't mean to hit a nerve or anything, just to post my thoughts.

Re: Youth and integrity.
Ohh, you're talking about relationships not sex. The way you wordeed your intial post I thought you were referring to sex. Well in that case...
Tell them to piss off. Then you find a girl that intrigues you, you'll take it upon yourself to talk with her. I'm extremely picky and it's a good thing. It's cool that you know what you want. If other people don't understand your view tell them you have standards.
