3.24" sounds a bit off. Way off, actually. Perhaps I messed up in the circumference measurements.

I'd say it's about 2.5" wide, so the rough estimate of circumference based off of that is around 7.85".

I still don't think that's too bad. I must have screwed up the 'string' method quite a bit, though.

That sounds about right. My eyeball measurement estimate was about 2.5" wide.
