totse's server's operating system ran out of allocatable file handles. Since each new UBB thread modifies a file (the forum header) and creates a file (messages in the thread) what would happen is that the header would get updated but the thread file would be created as a zero-byte file.

I had to reboot the server to clear the problem, then restore backups of Spurious Generalties and Half Baked from 48 hours ago, then delete all of the zero-byte files and run a bunch of UBB cleanup routines. The Spurious Generalities and Half Baked forums are back on-line now.

I also switched flood control back to 61 seconds.

I'm gone for three days and then this happens!!! I need to never leave again.

Does someone want to fix the problem of when you edit a post with an URL in it? It just gets all fucked up when you do.

Obviously, this isn't a priority, but if there is an easy solution then why not do it? Perhaps you could program it to delete the URL tags when you go into the edit screen.

Right. Everything has its downsides, totse's is just more...noticeable. And Spurious isn't always crap. Granted, most of the time it is, but there's a good thread every, say, two months or so.

Go to one of the other forums on totse. The idiots are treated as such, they feel alienated and go back to sg and hb where they are welcomed with open arms.

I put totse's rss feed (code) into KNewsReader last night and all it says is, well, nothing, just a blank ticker tape.

When i go to refresh, there is a msg that says "Currently Being Updated, No Articles Availible". It's been doing this for over 12 hours now.

Also the guys and me over at rfa are kicking around the idea of podcasting or list-serving for the forum (and then totse possibley) ...soooo rss would be a good 'fix' while were figuring out if they would be a good idea or not.

i just checked it in winxp with the 'cdf' format and got the following err msg:

First of all, your not ever going to get it for the simple reason that you asked for it. Read the F.A.Q. Second, I have seen some of your comments, and they do not even compare to jebuonags or censes posts. Plus, there is no reason to have another mod, the two we have now do a fine job.

First of all, I have no idea why people say you wont become a mod just because you asked. Because the FAQ clearly states you CAN ask. They answer MAY be no. Meaning you can ask, and still become a mod.

Secondly, you have been here for such a short amount of time. And asking to get something in return is outrageous, because you have done nothing for totse. Simply advertising does nothing. You may bring 1-20 hits per day, and those people wont even register, and if they do, they will probably become spammers.

Plus, there is no need ofr another mod in NSAH. Simply because, the mods we have now are great. They do their job well. All you would be doing is filling a spot on the list. Besides taking a small load off the others hands, it does next to nothing. NSAH isn't a forum that gets enough traffic that will need 3 mods.

Speaking as the person who handpicked both of the current NS&H mods, I can say with complete confidence that they're both doing a great job, and have no need of help.

If there was a need in there, there are other people I'd add first before adding someone I don't know.

Jeff Hunter is the founder of &TOTSE. He is the original member. He's about the only person whom 99.99% of Totsers will begrudgingly bow down to. Despite the huge fan following and power he could wield, he manages to keep himself removed and doesn't interfere with matters, something that impresses me personally. Other people adore him for various reasons. Now bow your head and do not mock his name.

Oh, and whenever the server goes down, he's the one that spends hours fixing it, hence all the particular thanks.
