I haven't done much reading on the subject, it kind of just popped into my head just now so I felt like posting it here.
I was thinking, maybe we are, if not almost, finished evolving, but moreso helping a new breed evolve- the mechanized era. We are learning to create better, more "real-life" machines, computers, and animations than ever before. My theory is that maybe we are the creators of a new species- Machine. Thoughts?

I just heard this report on the radio that humans are still rapidly evolving. Our bodies have more enzymes to help us digest lactose and something about our metabolism has evolved as well. I don't really know any details about it.

But not having evolved for 2000 years do not mean we are not going to evolve more, as the theory of evolution believes in changes in a large amount of time. Think it took us just a few years to become humans?

Humans arn't necessarily done evolving, but you certainly arn't going to see any noticable changes in our physical makeup anytime soon...

Evolution starts with one organism with a mutation and that organism's mutation spreading to its offspring. Usually, if the mutation is benifical to the organism, it will increase the reproductive fitness of that individual and its offspring, making more and more organisms with that same trait and spreading throughout the population.

In the case of humans, our population is too big for one organism to effect the whole.

For example, if someone was to magically evolve the ability to fly, only that person and a percentage of its offspring will be able to fly. No one else besides that dude and his kids and his kids kids kids kids kids would be able to fly. Only if he went on to fuck a million women and impregnate them all might he be able to spread his flying gene to a large population.

I could go on for a while about evolution, but my point is, we arn't evolving. You might see a 6 toed/fingered person every now and then, but you will almost never see a completely seperate race of 6 fingered humans. Its just not probable.

There is no need for humans to evolve. The poor, the hungry, the rich, the stupid, even the mentally retarded people pass their genes on. Everyone gets fed and the the survival of the fittest doesn't exactly apply anymore to the human race. We're all pretty well fed nowdays. Everyone is still fightin and fuckin. Except those Africans. They're all pretty hungry.

Ok, let me throw this question. Suppose in the near future we have a genetic engineering scenario, in which human embryos are genetically altered to remove imperfections and health problems. So basically, everyone is physically fit, and genetic mutations are gone from the human race because they are all rubbed out in the engineering process. So what happens to evolution? In theory I guess you could "evolve" the species in the laboratory, always trying to make your new test-tube babies stronger and smarter.

This possibility is not very far off. I'm just making assumptions here, but what would really happen?

So, it appears I have two people who agree with my statement. Niggers has how many? Yup, zilch, zero, nada, no exsistent etc... .

However, I would say that I pity NWA, mostly due to his non exsistent will to contribute positively to an arguement. I believe that humanity or none of its creations will ever truly be perfect. The reason is that perfection leads to perdictability and humanity as whole is rather unperdictable. As for true AI, if it were created, it would be unable to surpass a few key concepts do to the fact that it would percieve itself as perfection in the most pinnicale of senses. This is where the downfall would come, perfection is not possible to unperdictability fostered by the human psyche. Also, perfection would be quiet boring, unable to learn of nothing new, sends shivers down my spine.

On the contrast, the melting pot kind of has to happen because things like that that has happened to some Amish communities will occur. Granted, but how do you think that if true AI was ever created, it would deem itself the pinnicle of perfection? Perfect to us maybe, but maybe not perfect to its own. Christ, most people see the perfect supper as a bigmac supersized, for example. This would not be so for true AI. Then again, maybe I went overboard with my wording in my lat post. Now this is turning into a spiritual POV, but that's a whole other thread, so I'll make it as brief as I can. Everything is connected. EVERYTHING.
