vomit inducing tones
okay so im bored one night looken through old totse posts and i run into some one who claims with that tone generating program audacity he has made himself vomit, given himself a headache and toned out a fire station a ways away. So to start let me give some credit where credit is due to "MomentaryLapseOfReason". Okay here is what i got, with his specifications i managed to give myself a massive headache, my friend managed to tone out his wireless lan line, he uses a simple D link wirless router. I also managed to give my self an upset stomach a slight anxiety and ever so slight nausia.
I figured this project could go faster and we might be able to find the magic tones if we got more people working on it so to those who are interested in finding a vomit inducing tone, i was told to start messing around with a sign wave at 5000Hz and to play around with the speed and phaser effects. If any one is curious enough to try it let me know what results you get

although i'm sure much of this phenomenon is from actually 'hearing' stuff, some may be related to receiving rf/micro waves in your body. a sure fire way to test the first item (ie. simply 'hearing' certain sounds)... is to turn on any of 99.9999% 'rap' noise and see how you react :[

Re: vomit inducing tones
this was taken from http://www.forteantimes.com/articles/153_sonicweapons.shtml quote: One such device the squawk box blasts two slightly different, intolerably high-pitched ultrasound frequencies (16,000Hz and 16,002Hz) at rioters; the two, when combined in the ear, effectively produce the frequencies 32,002Hz and 2Hz. The result, as one commentator put it, is to create in the rioters a compelling wish to be somewhere else.
this lead me to the discovery of the Phasor Pain Field Generator http://www.amazing1.com/ultra.htm any one know if this thing actually works [This message has been edited by antheron (edited 03-02-2006).]

I've heard of the squawk box before... pretty convincing. Reminds me of the theory of binaural beats -- basically, it's the same technique. Interesting link. I might try to mimick some of those devices and see what effects I can produce... I probably won't buy their kits, though -- make your own is much cheaper.

Just for the record, there is no such thing as a 'sign wave'. A sine wave is a perfect alternating wave. Just so you know...

Yea it works..The U.S Military is using this stuff for war tatics..remember in like the early 90's when those Marines BLASTED Rock music at cubans for like 24 hours straight? That was one of the things that started it. Also a scientist in the early 40s discovered that a loose screw was producing an aduable sound causing him to vomit. Its pretty cool.

also, on the flaming lips album zaireeka, it has 4 discs that play at the same time in 4 diferent players, it has a song that has this crazy noise on one of the discs that makes you feel really sick sometimes, so maybe you should check that out.

I don't know the incident you're talking about, but I know that they did stuff like that at the siege of the Branch Davidians at Waco and other similar situations. That's more to do with denying the targets any peace or rest, and trying to get control over their mental state into your hands and out of theirs, rather than specific noises or sounds. Unless we're talking about completely different things here, which is entirely possible.

No your right..I was just stating that, that incident was the first time sound was used as a weapon in a hostile enviorment..Leading to the start of sound warfare.

You should look into binaural beats, thats one of the things Mythbusters overlooked. You cant hear things like 5 hz, so you use binaural beats to play those pitches.

Well, they were trying for a sound on the other end of the sound spectrum. They were trying for a subsonic sound. Also, I've heard some things about the way they had their experiment set up. Apparently there were some aspects that could've been done differently and produced different results.

Im don't know much regarding the subject but if said sound exists and was played over say; an airports p/a system or even a school's p/a sytem it would cause major havoc.

I tried at 5hz attached to my 1200 watt amp then to some subs no crap but my stomach does hurt lol I think it may be because the vibrations are like that of when your stomach "rumbles" mine probabily hurts because of all the milk I just drank tho
lol that was on south park....What a name Brown note...just contemplate it for a second.....hilarious I know...lol lemme end with some more....ok there we go.....

Seeing as how its pausible to cause pain and muscle contraction such as the lungs, due to extreme audio stress. Perhaps at the right frequency it could be possible to stimulate the bowel movement.

hay welcome tb, and thanx for the GREAT article! it is of my opinion that EVERYTHING has an oscillation, ie. a 'back & forth', on& off, possitive & negative, ying & yang, good & bad.. one of my experiments shortly, which was touched upon briefly in your reference, is testing an antenna either on or 'in' the ground, and see what kinda stuff i can pick up...probably at extremely low frequencies.. where alot of sonar takes place. i am sure i will need to put additional filters on any 'standard' radio i use that goes down near 0.00 htz in order to pick up anything of significane or intelligibility. Yeah couldn't you just make your stomach resonate with the frequencies of the sounds, and then just turn up the amplitude so they vomit? Thats the idea right?

Well, in my experience, the sound fucked with my brain, and caused the vomit reflex. It wasn't a physical action on the stomach itself.

Re: vomit inducing tones
This stuff isnt new. The idea has been around for ages and I hear something about it every few months or so. Especially since the mythbusters or whatever episode that had something to do with it. I use tone generators and other things to EQ large systems(work with audio for a living, rock bands and such) which is generally sweeping through the frequencies to get a flat respose through the drivers. Though 5000k sounds obnoxious, I dont believe you are looking at the right end of the spectrum. Everything I have heard about this concerns much lower frequencies, most under audible range, i forget exactly where that ends(0-25ish). I have been told it has something to do with brainwaves. I have also seen people have seizures that they attributed to music, there wasnt much credibility there but if they think the noise made them sick, ok. Also take into account that drivers generally have poor frequency response this far low and you wont be able to hear the noise itself, rather the effects it has resonating other objects. Its fun to make a club shake but things can get broken haha. Hope none of you get too ill from this.

just produce a sound like screaching your nails on a blackboard, or rubbing a balloon with a finger, or a microphone to close to a speaker etc. make it really loud, and you WILL crawl in pain... kinda simple, but it would be effective, i think

5000 Hz seems annoying to me, but not anything painful. But, thatn again, the speakers I'm useing come with a computer running Windows 95, so that tells you how old they are.
If anyone could recommend a tone-generating program with a better range than Audacity (which is limited to 1-20000 Hz), that would be appreciated.

Re: vomit inducing tones
Yah might want to check out these books by Bruce Cathy, 'es a Kiwi too. http://www.fetchbook.info/search_Bruce_L._Cathie/searchBy_Author.html In it he explains how certain Harmonic vibrations do things.
Like in the Bible theres a bit about the tower in Jerico, how a big bunch of people walked around it blowing trumpets. They were all certain frequencys and the vibrations shook the bricks untill they all vibrated away from each other & the tower fell down.
He mentions that Atomic bombs have to be set off at specific times & places to work.
He also predicts that a certain Aluminium Smelter will produce a above average quality product. It does & they say they don't know why it does. SwIms had sounds from machinary start a vibrations inside 'is ear canal, like that 'fingernails on the blackboard thing'
