Its Modern, Its New, Its Hip and To The Groove- Its Body Minimalisation
Excuse the crappy title-
I was just curious- just how much of your body could you live without? I have no intention to actually cut away body parts or anything i am just curious as to how much of the body is absolutly necessary?
I was thinking that you could live with the removal of:
One lung One kidney Pancreas Apendix Gonads
Any thoughts on what else?

You don't really need all your fingers or toes. And even arms and legs for that matter. Then you got two ears, eyes, lips..... You'd be amazed at what you could live without.

Basically all you need to live is a brain to send signals to a heart which circulates blood from A to B back to A. Plus a digestive system(including a mouth).

I was thinking that you would need your circulatory system (or at least part of it), your digestive system, your brain, you wouldn't need your eyes ears or nose. you wouldn't even really need most of your bones either i guess- but if you got punched in the chest you would die i spose.

Actually, 1/4 of a kidney is capable of doing the work of 2...but you're fucked if you get kidney failure. and I reckon you could remove your spleen.

You could "live" without most of your brain.

Technically they can keep any part or peice of your body 'alive' more or less for quite a while. They do this a lot for donors.

Theoretically you could live (well, be conscious) with no body at all, just some electronics to house the program that is you and all the required data. quote: Originally posted by Chunkmiester: I was thinking that you could live with the removal of:

Taking that much out would greater shorten your life. And gonads aren't really as expendable as you might think. You can live with a lot of your liver removed, as well as the spleen, gall bladder, adenoids, tonsils, arms, legs, tongue, large sections of intestine, etc. Though you have to make the distinction between "live" and "function as a human being."
