At what point are you no longer human if you are replacing body parts.

say in the future they have a prosthetic for everything including heart,lungs,and even brain.

at what point would you no longer be classified as Non Human. Would you lose your social security? how about not being permitted on public transportation or allowed in areas that only humans can access.

there's a movie about that, based upon a short story by isaac asimove.. bicentennial man sorta discusses those issues from the opposite perspective.. what makes you human?

I'd say you're still human if you were born human, and bore enough characteristics to be seen as being human.

Personally, I think the whole Chiba City scenario could be pretty cool. I would replace or upgrade my body if it made me a cut above.

As soon as your brain goes, that's the end of you right there. The brain is essentially you, and everything else just allows you to continue living and manipulate objects.

You could put your brain in a robot body, and for all practical purposes you would still be you. But as soon as the brain goes, that's it. Everything else is just an organic shell, the brain is who you are.

As far as if you were classified human or not, whevever you become 51% cybernetic, you are mostly mechanical at that point.

I wouldn't want a robotic body because there are so many things you can do with a human one that you can't do with a robotic one. Like sensual touch and sex for instance.

The brain may not be all it's cracked up to be.

Numerous theories have proposed that the mind, the perception process part at least, is somewhere else... or everywhere else, and the brain is more of a receiver/transmitter for sensory data (and possibly a storage system for memories). Some theories are mystical, others are scientific. But they sometimes have a lot in common, when you look hard enough.

It be nice to get a new brain. I could customize my own behavoir without alot of effort.

If what you are depends on your genes what would someone with down syndrome be?They have an extra pair or chromosomes so technically they are a new species.

As long as you act human with all the strengts, weaknesses, and foibles that come with it you are human. It wouldn't matter if you were the bionic man, AI, a former organic concesness transfered into a computer, computer program inhabiting an organic body, clone, GE construct, etc... As long as you have a human soul (for lack of a better word) you are human.

As far as the government is concerned, I think you're probably human as long as you pay your taxes. Who are they to complain?
