Default American Government

It is true that our government sucks. For instance, they LIE to the public. I will give one good example... "Area 51" ...
A remote base in the navada desert located on Groom dry lake, a location for the development of once top-secret aircraft, such as the u-2, the SR-71, and the acclaimed Aurora... It has been photographed and monitored.... yet the government still denies it's existence. If they can lie about that and pull it off, what's to say they can't lie about anything they don't want the public to know?
Also the media is totally bogus, it's a highly unreliable source... I've read accounts made by people who have been involved in events covered in the news, and they would say how wrong the news go it. If you are as i like to call a "mediatype" or someone who believes anything the friendly local newsreporter puts in your face, I really feel sorry for you. Our government is that of corruption and lies, many of you will probably think I'm some anrachist anti-american extremist... that just has to do with what you've been taught and how much you know. This has a lot to do with religion as i've posted elsewhere. Im betting most of you will throw this away and not accept it, but i hope you try to look at it from my viewpoint for a bit, do some research... You'l be a much more enlightened person..

Here is something to consider:

When it comes to military hardware, installations, etc. the phrase is neither confirm nor deny. When you begin answering questions, more follow. Once you get to the point of genuine classified information, the questions do no stop and then the allegations of government cover up follow. The easiest course of action is to say nothing.

Let us use the SR-71 as an example. The predecessor of the SR-71 was the YF-12. The YF-12 was supposed to be the high altitude interceptor for the Russian Bear and follow-on bombers. Unlike the US, the Russian nuclear strategy lay primarily in the land and sea launched ICBM's, not manned bombers. Therefore, the need for those interceptors was gone. The airframe had already been developed and it was suitable for high altitude recon. The YF-12 was modified for that purpose. Now comes the press wanting to know specifics. The press already knew most of the airframe capability, but they wanted to know system capabilities (ie camera, SLAR, IR, electronic, et al). This was pure and simple classified information that the Soviet Military also wanted to know. Wasn't gonna happen. So, the US acknowledged the existance of the YF-12 and passed the buck on the SR-71. Was anyone really fooled, I think not. But not every question deserves an answer especially when it comes to national security. Do some people not like that answer, yes they do not. However, national security is paramount. Now, is every issue national security, no. That is where you the citizen must really think through an issue before passing judgement.

It's called operational security. The less people know, the better. Our servicemen get killed because of some big-mouthed asshole telling what the world does not need to hear, and Servicemen will die. In which case families will loose a son, daughter, wife, husband etc etc, and it's something else for some people on here to bitch about

i don't buy all that shit. i understand it and all, and see how it is needed, but i still think its wrong. the government is meant to be of the people, and that does not mean lying to them. it should be more open less covert in its actions.

And if all sides actually played by the same rules I would agree with you. However, if all sides played by the same rules, there would be no sides.
