u2's halftime show
WOW!
what other band could come in at the middle of what many americans call a celebration,
showcase the names of the dead, and still get applause.
anybody else notice the way the banner fell like tower 2 i think it was that had that last jagged piece standing for so long,
i noticed it because there was a slight pause on that formation before it came down the rest of the way.
but why do i get the feeling that most people, in addition to most of those i was with who drunkenly protested, watched the playmate fear factor instead?

Re: u2's halftime show
U2 isnt the same. Their music isnt what it used to be. Bono is fake. he comes off like he is Anti-American and Anti-Establishment. He is pretentious and full of himself.
I think bono might be the Anti Christ.
and yet he keeps sucking Americas Dick for that money!

Re: u2's halftime show
You are right Trog U2 isnt the same band as it used to be which is to bad. I think Bono only has an anti-American stance because he wants to portray himself as a rebel and create contraversy (I better buy myself a dictionary).

Re: u2's halftime show
what the fuck?
where do you guys think he's anti-american, or even anti-establishment?
rebel, controversy?
are we talking about the same u2?
just because their songs are political doesn't mean he's a militant extremist.
just because bullet the blue sky questioned some american motives, doesn't mean he's anti-american.
yeah an anti-american, anti-establishment, rebel who stirs controversy yet a devout christian who breaks down into gospel songs like still haven't found what i'm looking for.
i don't we've been listening to the same u2.

Re: u2's halftime show
or is it YOUR anti-american, anti-establishment stance, to be a rebel,
that the band has a commercially acceptable album, played the super bowl(the epitome of american over-indulgence) and the joshua tree now being regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time, they can't be any good.

Re: u2's halftime show
wtf was with the flag in his jacket? no offense against those who were born in the uk but if your going to do a tribute to the victems of sept 11 then i think its apropriate to have an "all american" type band do the show and not U2. they are a good band but not what i think was right for the situation.
im just sick of this musical tribute shit by every artist just to make a buck and get back into the spotlight.

Re: u2's halftime show
i think u2 was perfect for the situation.
they did a live concert once before where they stopped everything in the middle, and showed a rwandan(sp) refugee, envious of our ability to go to a conert and enjoy music if we want, and that we should never take any of our freedoms for granted or we will lose them.
didn't bono play an integral part in the the first peace negotiations between the ira and england?
i remember a time when u2 would call up george bush sr. at every concert and harass him about certain policies.
what fucking "all american band" could do what u2 has done?
limp bizkit, the no talent motherfuckers who can't even write their own songs they have to cover george michael, and disgrace pink floyd.
they'd have probably done a song called tuesday bloody tuesday anyway.
the last decent political american band was probably megadeth.
i agree with you about the musical tribute thing, it certainly ruins it for those who do do some good.
like paul mccartney and u2, who i believe both donated the money recieved for the superbowl to the victims of 9-11, and if i do recall a percentage of all concert proceeds for both until 9-11 of 2002 will go to the families.
what did britney spears do with her money, another boob job?
i think that one chick probably decided a tatoo on her other arm would be good with that money.
i didn't get the flag in the jacket either, i was expecting something else to be on the other side.
now that i look back though i think it was meant to symbolize that america is very close to his heart, since that was the side of his jacket covering it.
