Re: free books
i'm sure books are all over the net in fact i was reading in the bookseller-the industry mag here in england that there are about 16000 titles currently on-line illegaly, but can't you just go to a libary and borrow the books reading whole books from a computer moniter would be hard work to say the least.good choice on fear and loathing try some irvine welsh and t.c boyle while your at it and i think its alister crowly(the satanist?)but i'm not to sure i'll ask at work- i work in a book shop- see if anyone can reccomend anything by him.

Re: free books
Ya know, you can borrow the books they have at the library. Also people get rid of alot of books every year. Look around at yard sales or used book sales. I rarely buy a book unless it was good enough that I'd like to add it to my collection.

Re: free books
i look at yard sales but they usually just sell crappy romance-novels.
my towns doesnt have a library and the nearest one is 45minutes away, too big a pain in the ass to go back/forth.

Re: free books
http://www.bibliomania.com has a lot of books for free. It's mainly older stuff though, probably so they can avoid law suits.

Re: free books
Try Spyder Robinson's "Callahan's" Series. Pretty easy to find at most yard sales and libraries. Worth the read.

If that's your problem, I have a couple of books to recommend. I know that it's possible to obtain free copies of Finnegan's Wake and Ulysses (both by James Joyce)online, and if you can finish AND understand them in under a month you have my kudos. Another good book that takes longer than it looks is the Illuminatus Trilogy, but that shit can fuck up your head. All of the aforementioned books are actually really good. Ulysses is supposedly the greatest book of the 21st century.

Also, if you have an attractive friend of the opposite sex who likes books as much as you, I would recommend the Kama Sutra. That one could take you months...

Re: free books
Just look in the right places. Um, 66.92.78.111:5500 should provide a decent start, theres lots of good servers with literature, although the quality of some of it is questionable. Search on google for a hotline tracker, click on the globe icon on the banner menu, paste whatever tracker suits your fancy, and take advantage of everything you can. Frankly, I think that hotline has more interesting material than others and occasionally you come across really interesting people. One time I mistakenly connected to a UFO cult's server preaching about the Zetas and talking about prophecies and how the ark of the covenant is just an interstellar communications device. Strange people, these hotline denizens. But if you want free books, they'll have them.

Re: free books
Tom Robins. Try reading Albert Camus.
Free books are easy. In bookstores all paperback books don't have tags that set off the alarms. Only hardcovers do(even then its easy to remove them, they are located in the inside cover). So just go into your bookstore and stock up. Watch out for cameras and bag 'em. I started doing this a while back and now i have a huge library. Whenever the mood finds me.
