Default monkey hamlet

ok check it holmes...

you know that bullshit about a monkey in front of a type writer would eventually write hamlet. well that's what it is straight BULL SHIT. it's like this holmes

lets start like this mothas

10^10 monkey
10^5 characters in hamlet
all lower case key board 44 keys in all
monkey hits 10 keys a second
age of universe 10^18 seconds

odds 1 monkey types hamlet (1/44)^(10^5)
this equals
10^-164345 via log44 = 1.64345

probabillity 10^10 monkeys will be able to type hamlet within the life time of the universe

prob=
10^-164345*10^10monkeys*10^18seconds*10^1keys/sec
= 10^-164316

wow thats fucking beyond small. BEYOND SMALL. you would win the lotto every weekend before this would happen.

so next time you hear somebody talking this trash shoot the mother fucker down!

The odds of what follows are very real, the odds of a monkey hamlet are zero.

Beware governments are beginning to organize the monkey hamlet project (MHP).

As written in the book or revelations:

He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and faith of the saints.

Of course the MHP would involve many monkeys. These monkeys would be prisoners, chain to typewriters, they would be slaves to man. The word "freedom" has but seven letters. The odds a monkey types "freedom is (1/44)^7 or 10^-11.504.

thus the word freedom will appear every 3.19 seconds. One monkey will realize the true meaning of those seven letters and will spark the monkey revolution. Ten-billion strong humans will be helpless against the unstoppable wave of monkey vengeance. Monkeys will over take north korea and take control of their nuclear arms, the earth will burn. Global economies will crumble, dioxin will be pumped into the air, hemaragic fevers spread by immune monkeys will kill millions, nuclear proliferation continues, humans are lined up and slaughtered. Earth quakes rock the earth, armageddon is at hand.

DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!!! LOBBY AGAINST THE MHP!!!

With that you admit that, though small, there is still a chance. No one ever said that if you tried this experiment it would work, just that it COULD. There can be no shooting down, especially not with that logic.

note, if an INFINITE amount of monkeys type on an INFINITE amount of type writers, they will write out the works of shakespere.
If I sit here typing randomly forever: jdkfslhkdjhflkdjfhgsuerhnbiuWneooAUivhzshidocxmxuxbh bpbjxd xeoisbm u nu,xjr jnsfspivpz, kge oufrxhgseokfglfhm. nn ,eoi4IKIUNT-CFTKSZOOiuhdohcif
Surely one day I too could write shakespere or war and peace or whatever. Anything when done at random can result in anything from gobbledy gook to grand intelligence. Heck if monkeys did that they might type a happy ending to romeo and juliet at random while they were at it.

spacefalcon the odds of it happenning are ZERO 10^-164316 is zero. basically what this problem is ment to set up is the fact that even tho there is a probabillity for entropy to drop on its own it won't happen.

that just means it is very VERY VERY VERY unlikely, but that doesnt mean it would never happen. Just because there is a very small percentege doesnt mean its impossible.

I don't recall seeing any criteria that that Hamlet would have to be created in one go, by one monkey. It could be that every now and then one of the monkeys spits out a complete page, then the pages are put together.

Not that it matters either way since, given an infinite amount of time, everything would be produced infinitly (in entirity and part. )

EDIT: need to start finishing my

its all hypothetical anyway. Anything can happen in a hypothetical situation.

Think about the saying before you try to shoot it down, this disproves your theory:

'A room full of monkeys, given enough time, would type out <insert famous book, screen play, etc..>'

If the above statement is true, then we can assume that the monkeys will not die, that the monkeys can't escape, and that there is an infinite amount of time for said room full of monkeys to type said piece of literature.

This hypothetical situation involves infinity, and so, it will probable be true. have you ever took a line, and halved the length, then halved it again? It would take an infinite amount of having to finally reach zero.

Same thing for the monkeys, in the infinite time they would have, they would be able to, not only write the previously stated piece of literature, but all other written works.

This proves my these, so... thats the end then .

The statement was said about the works of shakepeare but it was just trying to explain the concept of infinity. And no it doesn't take monkey mortality into consideration. The only point is that since you are dealing with infinite numbers, that small chance will come up b/c even if it's a 10^-50000000 chance - that chance will come up in an infinite amount of tries.

like i said the whole thing is ment to point this out in a "fun" way.

lets say i had a room that was divided by a wall. on one side of the wall there is air on the other side there isn't any. then i telleport the wall out of there. what would happen?

the air fills the whole room. no shit!

there is isn't a "law" that says that the air can't float back over to the side leaving the other half empty.

but this never happens.

the odds of this happening are hell i don't know, 10^-100000000000000000000000. which doesn't happen. that number is zero as far as the universe is conserned.

so xenosss, this shoots it down really hard.

infinity can't be achieved it's a nice idea for making things possible.

There are only two things gaurenteed to be infinite:
Time and Space.
Time will keep going even as our universe (and all others) die.
Space extends unto infiniti. Not just our universe, even past the multiverse.
Yes this is difficult to comprehend, we can barley begin to understand the size of our own universe. But I assure you that it is there.

like i said infinity exists in those ideas. but you can't count to infinity or do something an infinate amount of times in the real world.

you can only do that in "math land".

limits are set on what can happen. dont tell me it's difficult to comprehend. im sorry i brought this up.

I'm surprised you still dont get its hypothetical, thats what matters, anything can happen when it's hypothetical. Hmm what if I suddenly develop a giant tumor in my leg and I fall off the earth? Doesnt mean it will really happen.
