Magick & the SuperStrings
Maybe it's the ultimate theory that connects Metaphysics with Physics, and Pseudo-Science with Science.
Magick has been used since the beginning of time for simple men and women to change the universe around them according to personal or group will. This force has always been contributed to some almighty god or a manipulating devil.
I believe there is a much more scientific answer to this phenomena.
Before I explain, understand the definitions of two ideas.
Magick: Changed to 'magick' to seperate from stage illusions. Magick, put simply, is the will and belief of the caster against the will of change in the Universe (God). If the Caster's will and belief are greater then the universe's will, most likely the wish will occur, however passivly.
The Super String Theory: The idea that the most basic and elementary things in existance are tiny strings, billions of times smaller then a Proton. These Strings are made of energy, and their different vibrations and weavings create and change the current universe.
My idea is pretty simple then.
Magick is the unconcious (or for really devout people...concious) manipulation of these tiny strings that have an echo effect into the universe. This echo effect will change creation slightly if nothing strong stops it.
Example of the Will of the Universe would be...
If someone tries to will the Sun to explode. Obviously all the willpower on earth couldn't perform such a foolish task.
Example of a Persons Will being greater.
Someone casts a spell to get more money. An employer decides to hire the Caster out of several other equally qualified people.
The Ancient Druids had a concept of this idea, though I forgot what they called it now. And this theory may explain how some Strong magicians were able to conciously manipulate the SuperStrings by mere thoughts and movements. (back when people believed in monsters...)
Give it a thought...

Re: Magick & the SuperStrings
If something like that works (and I am not ruling it out, "There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy" is the stance I normaly take) the effects would be very subtle, and work over a period of time.

Re: Magick & the SuperStrings
Well , its not totally impossible. The possibilities of a persons change in mind do to a subject , or organism itself , could produce the action passively or impulsively. As I said , its not totally impossible and I believe in magick and superstrings as not a tedious process , but a totally intuitive process created by society itself...by evolving we've created a almost perfected probability of ideas occuring passively.

Re: Magick & the SuperStrings
The question is, if magic involves the manipulation of superstrings, how does the mind do this? Some physical method we are not aware of? Or a spiritual method we are also not aware of?
Quantum mechanics was not known at all until slightly over a century ago- it is possible that there is a spiritual world along with the physical that we are at present (largely) unaware of.

Re: Magick & the SuperStrings
Anything is possible. Though personaly I do beleive that there most likely is a spiritual/supernatural agency at work.

Re: Magick & the SuperStrings
Ok how about this
To my limited understanding part of Quantum Physics is that these shit small particles exist as a probability until someone uses a machine to measure them, at which point they will either be a wave or a particle, determined by the type of machine used- if it is designed to measure waves, the particle will be a wave. So on a tiny level, human conciousness affects the world around us. So what if the very act of thinking affects the particles around your head similarly- in normal everyday life only in tiny insignificant amounts to no noticable effect.
But during meditation/trances or whatever people who practice magick use, the effect on the particles is much more and also in a specific vibration(ie according to what the intent is, for example 'get rich') and a chain reaction is caused. The particles around your head hit others and so on and so forth, all carrying your intent. The vibrating (clumsy word I know but I can't think of another way to phrase it) particles continue on a path and gradually, like a snowball rolling down a snowy hill in the cartoons, and the effect 'snowballs' from the atomic level into the everyday world, and your intent is achieved, whether by making someone accidently dropping money so that it will land in a spot that you will walk by shortly after, or whatever.
Sounds kinda crazy but its just a theory, also remember Chaos Theory- if you make a computer simulation that is designed to predict the weather, and you feed into it every pressure pattern and whatever so that it will be perfectly accurate, but forget to acount for the flapping of one butterfly's wing, that tiny gust of air will eventually, over many successive weather predictions, cause the computer simulation to be completely and utterly useless. Someone else might want to explain Chaos Theory better.
Ok what does everybody think, its just a theory i think about sometimes when i'm bored/in the dark trying to get to sleep.
