hey i got a new stereo for my birthday on the 12th and well i live in a wooded arrea thats still in the houston city limmets and my reception isent verry good on it what would be a way to boost reception for the antinna?

For AM signal just use a piece of copper wire, the longer the better. The length wont be really important if you just use it for receive, so anywhere up to 200 meters will do. Run your wire either in a straight line along a fence or up a tree, or in a square shape around the house.
For FM you can do something cheap like copper wire to a coathanger on the roof, or use an old TV antenna pointed in the direction your trying to listen to. Or you can spend some real cash and buy a commercial FM broadcast antenna and a high Db gain FM masthead amplifier combination to pull in those week signals.
