Infrared and bluetooth question
hi,
I was wondering does any one know much about infrared remote controll ?
my idea was to write a program for my nokia 7650 that allows me to change the tv channels like the casio watch that came out a good few years ago.
i tried searching a bit but with no luck what way would the casio watch work so that it can change diffrent tvs and vcr's?, scaning frequencies, etc, and what ever else you might know that might help me
also in regards to bluetooth how exactly does that work?? does it scans for other radio frequencies and check if they are bluetooth enabeled?? or what way do they work?
any info/links on either of these subjects or any other that might be of interest to me would be apreciated
thanks in advance.

Re: Infrared and bluetooth question
You can't use your cellfone to change the channel because it uses rf. Your tv uses ir.

Re: Infrared and bluetooth question
i would say no because the IR diodes equiped on most consumer devices like phones dont have the power of a tv remote. it would be useless all but two feet away im opinion. i could be wrong though so check the specs.

Re: Infrared and bluetooth question
Some nokia phones have Ir but no you cant change TV channels with them, you can play games via Ir between 2 phones.
I have got a Compaq Ipaq H3970 which has bluetooth and it comes with a universal remote control program. syphon detonator you are right in saying it doesnt have the power of a standard remote, it has about half the operating range of a TV remote!
