Scanner/Detector.
I think this is probably one of the better places to post. I was wondering if it could be possible and for a reasonable price... to build a scanner that would tune into the signal that the police laptops use to transmit.. I am assuming its some form of digital and probably is always transmiting in order to keep the connection alive and to give status reports. Technically if you could scan onto this you could develop a detector that could let you know how many contacts are in the area and if you use some form of directional detection you could probably isolate at least the direction the signal was comming from. Does anyone think this is possible and reasonable?

Re: Scanner/Detector.
It is called a trunking scanner they run you about $300. If you ask me it is a waste of time to listen to the laptops, just fucking listen to the radios
