| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Why Stores are stupid
This may be more about the stores and cheating them than the games, but its important for gamers to know if they get a crappy game they don't want or something like that. --------------------------------------------- You know how stores have that policy that you cannot return the games if they are opened? Well I have found a way around this. You may not have noticed but if you attempt to return a game (which didn't run, or really sucked), they wont let you return it, but they offer you the option to exchange it for an unopend copy. Take the exchange and walk out. Return at a later time or a diffrent shift. Then return the exchanged game. It's surprising how companies will bother attempting to prevent returns but allow a loophole.

Re: Why Stores are stupid
Also, the stores don't really put much effort into enforcing the game ratings. On occasion there is a store (usually walmart) that may give you trouble if you are trying to buy an m rated game and you are under the age of 17, but all that means is you have to find a diffrent cashier, haha.

Re: Why Stores are stupid
another thing you can do is for the ps2 open the games from the bottom and not break the seal at the top, some stores will take it without the plastic aroundit

Re: Why Stores are stupid
here's a way to avoid shitty games: read fucking magazines to find out which ones are good and which are shit. pretty simple, no? and, if you went to Electronics boutique, you wouldn't have that problem. they'll take it back if it's opened.

If you recall there was a game called Daikatana. The most raved about, yet most dissapointing game from id software at the time. Magazines loved it, people hate it. Course I bought it for 2 $ the other day haha.

Maybe some mags raved about it...but those are just the mags you don't want to read anymore. The only one I read though (PC Gamer), they didn't like it at all.

Or you could walk into game rental place with a magic bag taped into your pocket and take whatever games you want, then walk out.
No, wait, that would be wrong. Yea, don't do that.

I don't remember it, actually, seeing as I don't play many PC games.

I'm not telling it to you so you can steal games although you could accomplish that and they would probbly never catch you as you are doing normal sales stuff. I did it because I bought the Q3A expansion team arena. It didnt work for me. I bought it 2 years ago, but I just figured out how to fix it, one of the skins was messing the entire thing up. Oh well 20 $ that I didn't have to spend. Q3A:TA is ok, but not really worth money. Should have been released as a free download.
