Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

Default Drinking Games

What drinking games do you play? And what are the rules?

My favorite was always quarter bounce. But we used two shot glasses, one to bounce the quarter in and one to drink out of. Because someone would always get drunk and choke on the quarter if we only used one. The best rule for this game is every time you make it three times in a row you get to make a new rule to the game.(ie. No one can say the words Drink, Drank, or Drunk.) Or (For the next turn everyone but you has to roll it off their nose to bounce it.) The possibilities are endless. And can get pretty damn funny too.

Anyway what are your favorites?

Drinking as much beer as you can without having to piss. There is one rule: you can't sit. You must be standing the whole time.
Oh and we drink "Grimbergen bier" which contains about 10% alcochol.

well, coming from Germany I know a LOT drinking games.

One of my favorites is "Blowing Cards".
You put a pack of cards on top of a bottle. Now one after each other you have to blow off from the pack at least one card, the one who blows off all cards or the last one looses and has to drink. Its like with a birthday cake btw, one try only.

"Titanic":
Watch the video from Titanic, everytime that chick screams "Jack", everyone has to drink.

There are way more, counting games, rally games etc. but it would be to much work to translate them all.

heres a tasty one, when watching band of brothers, take one sip whenever someone gets shot at, when someone says german, when someone swears

take 2 sips every time malarkey or someone else mentions a luger

take 3 when something stupid happens (like when the guy fell into a german foxhole)

take 4 when someone uses artillery (AA fire excluded)

and finish the glass when someone has something done to their leg (but not ass)

We all play magic the gathering. But instead of 20 life, we have 20 shots of whatever is on hand. Example, my psychatog deals 12 damage to Kevin, Kevin drinks 12 shots of everclear. Kevin passes out.

I don't understand the point of drinking games. Also drinking when a particular event happens is not a game. It is stimulus-response.

Excellent reply by the way. Don't try to explain the point of drinking games or anything.

The way I see it, if your life is so bad that you need to get drunk, then just fucking do it. There's no need to be a child about it. And really, how much of a game is it when everyone wants to lose?

Yes, I've tried several beers, and other assorted liquors, and they have been universally repugnant.

But that's not the issue here. If you like the taste of beer, fine, drink it. By why make it into a game?

Once again, that's not a game.

Doesn't it seem odd to you that know of you have been able to address the issue? Instead of answering the question, you merely insult me, and clumsily at that. Why?

Lysander, I already presented you with a "real" game (even though all of the games here are real). Magic the Gathering. Its a game, with shots of tequila instead of life counters.

At the parties I've been to, the main games were Presidents & Assholes and beerpong, or some variation thereof.

Once again, that's beside the point.

Lysander:

From Websters Revised Unabridged dictionary:

game :An activity providing entertainment or amusement.

That SHOULD answer your questions Lysander. Its fairly simple.

And as for my "insult". It was a joke.

I guess some people are more easily amused than others. What's the difference between, say, BSK's Titanic game, and drinking every time a traffic light turns green?

That definition's a little broad, don't you think? Is watching movies a game? Or snacking? Or masturbating? Or reading books?

A better definition is:

From Webster's Collegiate Dictionary:

game: a physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other

I suppose it could pass for a joke. A joke which implied I am stupid, and is therefore an insult.

Clap your hands twice click 1 finger saying your own name then say 'to' click the other finger and say the name of one of your friends. He then does the same and so on until someon messes up and they have to drink a shot or whatever it is your drinking.

So for example,

clap hands twice click 1 finger (stokesy) to click other finger (David)

Its a lot harder than it sounds especially when you start to get drunk

OK lets break this down

1. Alcoholics drink just to get drunk.

2. Basketball, Baseball, football, etc are all games are when we play these games are we just being childish?

3. Being the loser is no fun, let me tell you. See when i am playing a drinking game which i always win btw. So im always the last to get drunk. The best thing about it is that its a great opportunity to put shaving cream on your best friend while he is puking. Which is justified cause you had to haul his loser ass to the bathroom or bedroom. I could go but i want to put up my favorite drinking games.

Bloods and Kings
1. Put all the cards in a go-fish pile and tell the beer wench or dd to find the biggest cup in the house.
2. Each person takes a turn pulling a card.
3. Black cards = no drinks
4. Red cards = two drinks
5. Kings. ok, the first, second, and third kings to be pulled you fill up the cup with as much beer as you want. When the fourth king is pulled the person needs to drink the whole cup.
6. Play the game again. Also dont let the fucking loser talk until he has drank the whole cup. THERE IS NO FUCKING QUITTING EITHER. unless a person has to puke, but everyone else has to keep playing.

PS If your best-friends girlfriend putting only a drop of beer in the glass this is what you do. Pull a king and poor your beer in the cup. When she loses and decides to goto the bathroom, mark all the kings with a marker. I think you know the rest.

Drunkin Dart and drunkin ping pong.
Just search for them (google.com) they are to long to explain and im to lazy to link you to them.

Sports are about competition. They involve skill and strategy. I never said that playing games is childish; it's the mixing with drinking that I question.

I can't see anyone winning an arguement here. Drinking games and drinking in general is fun. Who cares if drinking games are childish...childish things are fun when you are drunk (like farting on people, thats fun).

So why not get out of a thread about drinking games if you dislike them?
