| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Rarest nintendo game?
Which nintendo game is the hardest to find? How much would it be worth?

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
You have to be specific. Do prototypes count? Does it have to have been available for sale at some point?
As for rarest game that you could buy, I'm not sure. Tengen Tetris is rare, but not as rare as many others. [edit] Forgot the Alladin deck enhancer. A very rare unlicensed accessory that enabled the use of Alladin carts, also quite rare.
Rarest period? The English translation of Mother. One cartridge of this is known to exist.

earth bound rocks, but why is there only one copy? what happend to all the others, and who has the 1 copy? Another rare game is ET i think it was for Atari (sp) but here is how the story goes , the compoiny who made it decided to make a million copies (which was unpresedinted) and they made them all before they even got some kind of public censuse (sp) , then they let a test audience take a whack at it and it was the worst game ever!! Imediatly the company that made them dumped them in a landfill. Than fans heard about the landfill so the company went back and crushed/melted/destroyed all copies of it .

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
I don't know who has the Mother cartridge now. I know that a guy called Demi was responsible for the original Earthbound Zero rom dump. It goes back and forth through eBay every now and then, fetching a few hundred bucks.

not quite. the publishers wanted the developers of the game to finish in 3-5 weeks, and they burned the midnight oil, only to turn out the worst crap ever. the millions of people that bought it returned it immediately, because it sucked so bad. now the bulk of them are buried in a landfill in new mexico. there are still a few carts around, my buddy chris has a couple of them!

Tengen copies of anything are pretty rare. Dodgeball is hard to find. I really haven't seen many copies of Pirates! around either.

Most unlicensed Nintendo products are farely rare. I haven't seen a copy of the Metal Marines snes cart in a long time that has to be ultra rare.

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
The problem comes when sellers realize they have a rare cart. FuncoLand wanted $20 for Super Dodgeball...

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
Dragon Warrior 3 or 4 go for around forty bucks, and they were actually released in America.
I you wanna get into a price war, go check Radiant Silvergun or the later chapters of Shining Force 3.

duh, Earthbound is a great game, or so I'm told. ET sucks the biggest cock, however. A friend of mine had it, and I nearly puked upon seeing it.... it had the shittiest gameplay. EVER.

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
how about Nes Trojan or the G.I. Joe games, and Ninja Crusaders.
And i have a question there was this game for the Nes i played like 10 years ago and i cant remember the name. All i remeber abou it is it was 2 player and 1st player was a helicopter and second player was a jeep and i think they were fighting aliens.

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
Maniac Mansion? I used to have that for the C64... damn, how I loved that machine. Certainly after I got me a walkthrough (Never was very good at adventure-type games. I'm more of a if-it-moves-blast-it type).
I think my cousin used to have it for the nintendo 64. I wouldn't know what happened to the console or the game. We don't talk that often...

Re: Rarest nintendo game?
There were 2 G.I. Joe games for the Nes theyre both cool but i like the first one better cause you can alternate between characters thru the whole game instead of having to find them first.
And do you know the name of that jeep/helicopter game.
Oh yeah does anyone remember Trojan or the origal Rygar for the NES.
Rygar is getting re-made for the PS2
