i think the best racing game ever is wipeout. it had a great soundtrack, very good graphics, and really excelent gameplay. i still love that soundtrack. in fact that game is the only reason i still have my sega saturn

wipeout

it fucking rules.

See that's the other thing, you need to talk console as well as genre, because there are a LOT of really great games out there, for most every console. .(well, obviously every console except N64)..

yeah but we're not talking consoles or graphics here.

We're talking pure gameplay
(cos isn't that wahts makes a game really?)

Did I mention graphics at all?

I was insinuating that there are good games for all consoles, really there are, it's just too broad a question to say "the best game ever", because the more you play, the more you realise there is no one perfect game but there are a hell of a lot that come close..

There is no best game ever, although tetris comes close.
Super Metroid is up there, as well.
Metal Gear Solid, Gran Tourismo 3, and a few others...
For me, it would have to be Jet Grind Radio. It kicks serious ass, it does.

Oh, hey, Us Canadians beat you americans in womens hockey! so there! *gives the finger*

Populous: The Beginning For Like one of those Strat games.

Half Life for single player shooter.

Half life counter strike best online game EVER.

Blade of Darkness is the best game i have ever played - bar none.

you never know what will be waiting around the next corner and that is what made it the scariest game i 've ever played as well.
nothing as yet compares to it.
