I love the game and am getting fairly good in understanding the right places to make my move.

how do you deside where to make the first move?

I usually go for the corners because it's usually easier to clear the mines if there on the side of the board.

The first click is random. It doesn't matter where you click you'll never hit a mine with your first click because the mines aren't calculated until you click.
If your playing with fairly dense mine and your first click yeilds a 1 then click one square around it because you have the odds are better than anywhere else.

However the best chance of winning is to make 3-4 random clicks spaced around the board and start again if you don't get a blow out.

To get the maximum speed it is nessicary to go quicker by not flaging mines except where nessicary.

OK, OK, this is very anal but I had to do a Stats project for A-level (high school) maths. sad how these things stick with you.

I beat Minesweeper in 1 second.

How can you like that game, i played it, got really good, and got sick of it after about a month, if even that. That game is horrible, it's so boring.
