| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Re: violent game
I can't pretend to have a good idea of this, since I probably haven't played most of them.. but..
Resident Evil series- oh yes.
Diablo 2- not exceptionally violent, but when the unique guys explode, it's a thing of graphical and audio beauty. *SPLOOTSH*

Solider of Fortune is pretty gory. It's fun to "stump" people.

Resident Evil series, Wu tang-taste the pain (it was based on Thrill Kill) Carmaggedon, Mortal Kombat (kinda) Doom (virtually INVENTED 3d shooter violence. Don't start with that Wolfenstein crap)

Re: violent game
Spiffy...
your character is the sorceress in diablo 2???
Man... you are missing out as far as gore is concerned... ever play a necromancer before?
his blood golem summon looks like a gorilla turned inside out.
Corpse explosion makes a MESS!!! especially if you recast.
i just got to lvl 41 but when i was lvl 39, a dumbass korean guy wanted to duel me (well i assumed he did considering he went hostile and was writing all of that bullshit text to me). he was a lvl 40 barbarian. so i finally found him. and he walked outside. so i followed. i immediately cast iron maiden and bone prison MANY times on him. he tried whirl winding out of the bone prison, and he died in less than 5 seconds. i took all of his gold and guarded his corpse... it was hillarious...

Re: violent game
I have an open/single player necro.. corpse explosion is FUN, although I only have him in the 20's, wish I could cast it more often. I like the sorceress better, though.. blood is fun and all, but in a game where bodies can be strewn about like nothing, I take a certain sense of pride in being able to clear entire levels without a trace of anyone ever having been there- bad guys or good guys. I have a single/open amazon.. level 53.. OMG, she's so insane. I wish I had her on battle.net, she'd wipe up. Strafe level 11 (23 shots with one arrow max, plus one for valkyrie, decoy, and any allies on screen), an imbued gothic bow, level 4 freezing arrow (for when the big bad guys are alone, less mana than strafe and more damage), Frostburn, Wormskull (great for the life steal), level 15 valkyrie (1100+ life- my tank/walking shield), and with mana and life steal as high as they are, the ability to use strafe all day without a care in the world about mana shortage or dying. The only downside is fighting Diablo- even on Nightmare, the red lightning drops the valkyrie instantly, so I have to stick and move a lot to beat him. That's where freezing arrow comes in very handy, though.

Re: violent game
hehehehe. hold on. i gotta log onto battle.net to look at my necro.
he's my only battle.net character... he is a freaking beast.
the same barb, in the next duel said no summons. so i said no war cries. he agreed. i killed him in two hits. he never touched me. i shot bone spirit twice. my bone spirit is lvl 15 and does 244-254 dmg. it is awesome. i have lvl 7 revive, with lvl 15 skeleton mastery. lvl 7 golems (my items give me +6) and 11 in skeleton mage. i have at least one in every summons skill (making it 7 with my items) lvl 10 corpse explosion, and one point in a few curses. the only one i really use is iron maiden. i didn't put any points into the poison skills. i hate using poison. its gay as hell.
but my equipped items are as follows.
shield: i swap with sigons (+1 to skills good blocking percent) and a 3 perfect diamond grim shield. sometimes i use the wall of the eyeless for fast cast.
armor: a rare templar coat that i imbued. 376 D, with with some crappy resistances, and damage reduction.
belt: war belt of the colossus (49 defense and +59 to life)
Weapon: necromancer's bone wand of the magus. (+2 to necro skills and fastest cast)
Helm: Wormskull
Hands: Frostburns
Feet: i swap sigons (faster run/walk with +40 cold resist) and a rare that has too much stuff to name.
Rings: Stone of Jordan and Rare: bitter loop (half freeze duration, cold resist 42, +149 to attack rating, and +26 to mana)
Amulet: Eagle Collar: +1 to necro skills, magic damage reduced by 3, 2-7 poison damage over 3 secs, +9 to max stamina (wow...) and +13 to strength)
but yeah, i haven't fought a zon yet... i heard they were the hardest to duel. i dont doubt it. all i have fought are other necros, and barbarians. neither are much of a challenge.

Re: violent game
A properly-made sorceress is much more difficult to kill than an amazon. The reason: Frozen Orb. Any type of amazon besides a bowazon is just like fight a barbarian, and the bowazon can only fight with multi-shot or strafe in PvP and hope to win. The thing is, that's one arrow against the 30-40 shots- in a circle- that Frozen Orb flings out. You WILL get hit by one or two. A sorc with level 10 Cold Mastery (which will just about negate max cold resistance) and level 15+ Frozen Orb is hard as fuck to kill (especially if they have Energy Shield high enough to absorb at least half the damage they take into their mana pool). It's just a shame I didn't make her the right way. Baroness Anorexia- level 62 sorceress: Helmet- Crown with two perfect skulls (+10 replenish life, +38% mana regen.. I love replenish life) Weapon- Culwen's Point (+1 to all skills is the reason to use it, but faster block rate and fastest hit recovery is mondo cool) Armor- Viper Pelt (rare field plate, still haven't found mage plate to imbue.. 27% poison resist, 24% lightning resist, +54 to life, and fast hit recovery to stack with Culwen's.. only reason for me to imbue mage plate at all is that this is the only thing I can improve) Shield- Gemmed tower shield (57% to all resistances.. tower shields have the best blocking in the game, that's why I got that, defense doesn't matter a lick for a sorceress) Gauntlets- Magefist (would be better if I used fire instead of cold, but the fastest cast rate is cool) Belt- Nightsmoke Boots- Vidala's Fetlock (I love running forever! Except when I lag. :\ That's all that kills me now, but it happens often enough so that I lose all the work I've been doing in exp loss.. I also don't need resistances in the boots, as I have max resist on all but cold (56%) on hell difficulty) Amulet- Prismatic Amulet of Wizardry (Poison 15%, Cold 24%, Lightning 24%, Fire 18%, +22 to mana) Ring 1- Chaos Circle (rare) (Replenish life +5, Poison 5%, Fire 32%, +46 to mana, +16 to life) Ring 2- Prismatic Ring (all resistances 15%) She's pretty decked out.. now all I need is for the internet to cooperate for till I can get her to level 66, and start with Energy Shield.. somehow I don't see that happening.

Re: violent game
dude.. i personally HATE sorcs... they are so fucking dishonest. at least the ones i have seen. in b.net, some sorc conned me into dropping a wall of the eyeless on the ground cause she "didn't think a unique wall of the eyeless looked the same on the ground as it did in your inventory"
i was pissed.
she used telekenisis in town... i didn't know sorcs could do that in town.
