If you read more of that site you would find that they will begin tests flying it across a lake, and the crane that they use with ropes attached is just a safety precaution. (I was the first one to post that link on totse, btw, in the religion forum.) They just need to work out some inflight stability issues with the onboard computers, then she'll be a workable, saleable crotchrocket-perhaps in about ten years. You can already purchase a spot on the "first served" list once they are marketed for about 10 grand.
