It's not the material of the black box that makes it survive, but it's location on the plane.

where do they place it?
and i disagree, i think that ait has to be done out of something very strong in order to survive an explosion.

I think it's just a reinforced steel box inside a reinforced steel box inside a reinforced steel box, all sealed shut.

another question, do you really suppose that the ones from the wtc planes got destroyed?

Another thing, dont black boxes have a way to get to them?... i mean so they cant find it via satelyte or something...
i make not enough sence to keep typing,
ill go black out, if i die, retrive my personnal black box from my ass!

They have a connection on the box which is connected to the communication system in the cockpit. It's a plug on the outside of the box. It is also stored in the rear section of the cockpit underneath the floor in the big commercial jets.

6C: hey, read my response to the opium thread in DIY for me.

As far as the boxes on the planes that crashed into the WTC, the fire from the nearly full fuel load on the aircraft was so hot that the exceeding thick steel beams supporting a 100+ story building melted. The lack of support caused the building to collapse upon itself.

Regardless of the singular metal or alloy the box was composed of, that box became either vapor or tiny droplets of metal.

it a reinforced box on a plane that records all the planes communication and also all the operations done by the pilot.
its supposed to be very strong and it cant burn. so im wondering why all of the 2 boxes of the wtc planes got fucked up

its impossible for fire, even fuled by jet fuel to burn so hot as to melt that much steel, something else helped the buildings to collaspe

when the planes hit they smashed through the side of the building and most of the way through. the building had been built for such a thing but not the fire protection. "dry wall" as its called was blowen away and the steel left exposed. it wasnt so much that it melted but became soft. the welding on the side braces buckled and floor supports collased. they weight above just was too much to take

what is the recording style?
is it analogue (like magnetic tape or something) or is it digital (like a hard drive)?

Its analog and they find it by its radio ping it sends out. if it doesn't send out the signal then they search the location the plane crashed at.
