(Memphis-1/1/09)- Members of a Whitehaven church are still reeling after a bullet ripped through the roof of their church sanctuary, nearly hitting a 7-month old baby.

It happened during a midnight New Year's Eve service at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church. The mother of the baby girl heard a pop sound and then discovered a bullet inside the infant's diaper.

Jewel Frye Anderson says her baby began screaming and she took her to the bathroom to see what was wrong. She says that's when the bullet fell out of the diaper.

" I just was scared and I was just screaming thank God that he spared her life, because it could have killed her and me, cause it could have gone right through her stomach and right through my legs or something. I just thank God she is alive and it still works," said Anderson.

Others in the church heard the pop, but didn't know where it came from. There is now a large bullet hole in the ceiling of the sanctuary.

The pastor says he preaches all the time about the power of prayer and in this case prayers were answered.

Those in the pew at the time are calling it a modern day miracle.
