Re: what the most bootleg thing you ever made
ghetto tomato soup
what you need are a few packets of ketchup, a few packets of salt an pepper, and some hot water. also you will need a bowl an a spoon.
what you do to make this is empty about nine ketchup packs into a bowl. now slowly add your hot water stirring as you go. stop when you reach the consistency you like. then season with salt a pepper to taste.

To spice it up a little add one or two creamers. Tastes almost like the Campbells canned soup. Almost.

I've always had shit luck making a grilled cheese on the stove, so to make one I'll toast some bread and then microwave it with cheese. Uses a hell of a lot less butter! (none at all!)

Re: what the most bootleg thing you ever made
While working kitchen at a summer camp, we ran out of ketchup so I had to make some out of tomato paste, vinegar, and salt.
Another time, we ran out of milk, so I had to make milk out of expired condensed and powdered milk.
And hot chocolate out of things that hot chocolate shouldn't be made out of.

That's not ghetto, that's just basic cookery. Add a bit of garlic and basil, and it's a restaurant level sauce.
Simplicity is where the best cookery lies.

Well, I usually make pretty decent sauces so having to use something like that is pretty ghetto for me, I guess.

Re: what the most bootleg thing you ever made
Ehh...I make quesadilas in the microwave, just putting cheese between two tortillas and heat until melted. I guess that's not that "bootleg" but I know some people think it's gross and would only eat them made in a pan, with the tortilla crispy.
Tried doing that with grilled cheese sandwiches...yeah doesn't work. I would put the bread in a toaster first, and then quickly melt the cheese on the bread in the microwave. Still ain't the same as the right way.
Most food I make for myself is already as simple as it can get, so...can't do much to it.

Sometimes I get mushrooms and coat them in ceasar salad dressing and eat.
Other times I grab tomatoes, bite a tiny hole in them, suck out all the juice, then fill them with creamy balsamic and garlic dressing.
Cheese doggler: Skinless frankfurt, microwave, get a slice of that shitty plastic cheese, wrap it around, eat.

Housemates all on holiday, had no money (card empty and lost wallet so no change) and little food, had a week until my paycheck came
Survived on pasta mixed with butter and crumbled chicken stock cubes. Not bad for the first half bowlful - but eating it twice a day for six days was horrible. I found a few coins and bought a big bar of chocolate and a bag of oranges, and ate it all in one sitting.

When you run outta ice cream and just have peanut butter and jam and chocolate sauce they're called Squirtle sandwiches.
Because the waffle looks like a shell and the insides squirt out everywhere like a water attack.

Whatever the hell that would make would not be a corn dog. It would be like a fucking...breaded hot dog. Hmm, I wonder how that would taste. You'd have to add some kind of seasoning or garlic or onion salt in with the breading. Haha oh man.
Someone has already thought of this: http://jal-sausages.blogspot.com/2007/12/breaded-hotdog.html#links
And yes, that's a whole blog about sausages and hot dogs.
God that blog is so fucking weird. It's like this asian british (i think) girl who is obsessed with all things hot dogs and sausages. Some of the shit there looks so disgusting. Ugh.

Once when I was thirteen, I shot a little bird in a tree, feathered and fileted it and fried it up with teriyaki. Had to spit out the pellet when I was eating it though.
Other than that all my attempts at 'ghetto cooking' turn out well. If ghetto in the first place.

Never heard of it, but it sounds pretty awesome.
I used to eat ramen out of the package all the time, didn't really think it was that bootleg. Hell, i even had a cat that enjoyed it dry.
Most bootlegged thing i can remember making - dry captain crunch cereal mixed with peanut butter. we were out of milk and i really didn't want to take the time to run down to the store, nor did i have the money for it anyways. so i just spooned some peanut butter into a bowl, covered it in captain crunch, mixed it around and ate it.
