Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

Default What are you looking forward to in 2009?

Right now I'm sort of only interested in Resident Evil 5 and the Bionic Commando game for the PS3. Although things have fallen silent about that. Anyone have any intel on the new Bionic Commando game? RA5 speaks for itself.

2009 is going to be one hell of a fucking year.

Street Fighter IV
King of Fighters XII
Blazblue: Calamity Trigger
Madworld
Team Ico's next game (!!!)
Resident Evil 5
Sadness
Heavy Rain
LA Noire
and Infamous

just to name a few...

as far as Bionic Commando, it'll be out by next year. have you seen the gameplay footage? it's rule-ish.

plus rumor has it Max Payne 3, and Marvel vs Capcom 3 might show up next year (Capcom have reported it's very likely, and may arrive sooner than we'd expect).

Skate 2, to start off the year.
Resident Evil 5.
Prototype.
Saboteur.
Postal 3.

And while I don't have a PS3, I'll be seeing what others think of God of War 3 and Killzone 2.

Full list here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_in_video_gaming), by the way.

Mafia 2,

This and thanks for reminding me that I need to play through the first game again...... for the (seriously) 23rd time... I know that its mechanics suck, but for some reason its my favorite game ever made. Its just so entertaining to me for whatever reason... it just doesn't get old.

This. The game is amazing on so many levels.

For me, it would be Mafia II and Silent Hill 5.

I really hope they don't mess up the story in Mafia II. The first one was so good. They captured that family feeling with Salieri's restaurant so well. And then the loss of control as Sam got too greedy and Paulie lost it mentally. All gearing towards one of the most epic endings in video game history.

Maybe it's for the best - I'm graduating in a few years, and I'd like to land a job with 3d Realms to work on DNF for a while. Cool

How they are managing to finance this I have no idea.

That's probably what their ordinary working days are like. Spend the cash on whores and coke, and maybe draw up a screenshot once every few years to pretend they're working.

Are you asking about Resident Evil or Bionic Commando? I didn't really like the first couple of RE games. The remake for the GC was pretty cool, but waaaaay to slow paced for me. As for Bionic Commando, I fell in love with that NES classic on the Game Boy actually. In my opinion it's the best Game Boy game, besides Link's Awakening of course.

what does owning a PS3 have to do with anything? both games are for both consoles.

the only thing I can see about it is that both games were initially announced for PS3 and then later for the 360. after that, they didn't sound as potentially tastey anymore. 360 is easier to design for. this means -- games released for both are less than what they could be. don't get me wrong...both games will be good no matter the console. multiconsole titles are just, for the most part, a turn-off. I was under the impression FFXIII would have maybe required a dual layered BluRay, if not TWO. instead it's what...4GB? pfft...I eat 4 GBs.

atleast it's being maximized for the PS3, and THEN ported (watered down) for the 360. infact, alot of developers are taking this route from now on, rather than the oppositte. ya bitch wut?

I think he was referring to Bionic Commando Rearmed, the remake of the NES game with improved graphics. It's actually pretty faithful and a fair amount of fun. Download it on PSN, if you like the original you'll probably dig it.

As for what games I'm looking forward to in 09, it's mostly Wii games at this point. Really excited for Punchout! because I still think the NES one is the best boxing game ever made and this new version looks to have the same spirit.

Aside from that there's:

MadWorld
RE5
Sin and Punishment 2
The Conduit
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Deadly Creatures (love the concept, really hope it lives up to it's potential)
Fatal Frame 4
Sky Crawlers (if it turns out well)
Burnout Paradise PC
Dragon Age
RAGE

I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them all.

Nah mate, tolerance can only extend so far before you get fed up and have to say something. I'm not exactly going postal ;).

I don't think many people play raicng games in here, because no one has said Gran Turismo 5!
I'm also looking forward to Forza Motorsport 3, which is supposed to be end of '09 if it doesn't get pushed the fuck back for more development time (which isn't a bad thing, seeing as the game might be a little lackluster graphically like the last one if they rush it). I also hope it goes multiplatform like Bioshock did.

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is also set to come out in '09, which might be awesome if there's some new stuff, and they've made the physics a lot more realistic as they were in previous installments (not to mention the last Richard Burns rally and Sega Rally Revo), and ADD IN A GODDAMN SPLIT SCREEN MODE FOR MULTIPLAYER.

Yes, I know this will cause my console's framerates to skip (The more expensive one is much worse, most annoyingly), but it's worth it.

I don't really know what to be happy about, as I don't know when future titles are slated for release. Anyone got a resource/list of them? Trade you for some gourmet style Nachos and a pint.

Yeah GT5 and pretty much all GTs theres a pretty big gap between them and forza. But im pretty sure that forza wouldn't be mulitplatformed. Its like an xbox exclusive. Like remember that entire thing where everyone was going around saying Halo 3 would be on PS3. But it never happened, ever, and didnt come close to it at all.

Yeah itd be cool if it was multiplatformed. But i dont have a problem with any consoles. They all have their ups and downs. I have a 360 and wii. I played wii for a while until they ran out of games to put out. I still play 360 because theyre coming out with new games and most of them kick ass. I will be getting a PS3 once I get the money though because in 09 god of war 3 comes out, and there are more games that kick ass already on the PS3.

Why do people gotta get insane over stuff like this? Video games are video games :p
